Brutal ending for an old beast.

Many will have seen this old lad on the trail camera pic thread from the last 3 years.
Was a 5 pointer the previous two years but this year was an aborm with extra tines from the coronets and had planned to take a mate who owns the farm out for it for his first next week once the silage was off.
10ish this morning got a message with a pic of him in the lads garden that his old dear had taken so said i would go out for a look.Met the old fella who jumped in the motor to show me exactly where and on the way he said there were deer barking all yesterday for some reason.Got to the garden and it had moved 10ish metres from where it was first thing,in a very sad state and tear marks on his arse.He was going nowhere so done the deed, and on checking out his behind i said to the lad that i would put money on him getting done by another beast, possibly being bored into a corner he couldn't get out of and then getting a fair doing.
Covered in puncture and scrape marks on the hide so took him away to dump and skin, and then the severity of his injuries were plain to see.Absolutely covered in wounds and considering he was in excellent condition it must have been a fair tear up.
Only presuming but i'm thinking the barking from yesterday was related to this pair.

Great rite up for an old deer
Glad you found him other wise gossiping would of had been blaming the dog lads 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Shot a one last year with one puncher wound in his flank pulled the jacket over his arse & the puss burst out like a big green snot on to my shoulder 🤢cut infected bit out rest was fune

Good to hear he was put out of his misery in a timely fashion. It amazes me that people allow their pet dogs to corner these animals when consider what they can do especially when cornered.

Cheers all.
Haven’t check this bit since April so could be a newcomer in that’s done the damage.
Will have a look on the cameras when there next week.
