Hello, not so much time ago I bought a BSA CF2 rifle from a private seller, and I can see videos and photos on internet about this rifle and the bolt shroud sometimes is kept in the right side of the bolt and sometimes in the left. I always kept the shroud in my rifle in the right side of the bolt because were there when I bought the rifle.
For better undertsand what I mean look at these pics:

In this rifle the shroud is kept in the right side of the bolt (click on the pic for open it)

In this one instead is in the left side

I tried in mine to put it in both sides and the bolt just work nice not matter what in wich side the shroud is, so I wonder what is the correct side for keep it and what conseguences it can cost if it's kept in the wrong side.

Sorry for my english.

Bye

The bolt shroud is is the cover at the back of the bolt.
The part highlighted should be the same side as the ejection port.

That is the bolt guide not the shroud.
On the second rifle it is missing altogether.
I had a CF2 and it didn'tlook like the .222 example you have posted.
Maybe that was a rare variant?
I've never seen one with a removable magazine.
