Cabinet Organisation - what to do when it’s getting tight?

Evening all,
As my FAC ticket gets fuller month on month since the issue dare even though I purchased a 6 gun cabinet for my (6) I find that with 20MOA rails and large scopes I was struggling to fit it all in using the standard piece of foam used to space it all out - particularly on those with large scopes (have to have the rifle scope facing out towards the door and rifle just wants to fall out of the cabinet).

Iknow a lot of you Will probably say just throw them in they don’t need to be spaced out evenly - but I’m OCD and can’t do it!! 🙂

After a quick search on the internet I found no actual product to solve it that would do it singularly I.e. you can just “unlock” the rifle you want to take out leaving the rest all secure in the cabinet.

Working in engineering and having access to 3D printers I decided to make something quick and dirty that would allow me to best utilise my cabinet space and allow for rifles to be stored scope in and scope out and also vary the pitch and height to account for all the barrel lengths.

And I have to say its working a treat- even included a muzzle brake depression so I can store the rifle specific brake!

How do other members store inside the cabinet?

I have pistols hanging from hooks on the doors of mine. Magnets keep them from swinging around. Because of that I need to store my scoped rifle muzzle-down and across the cabinet rather than front-to-back.

1. Apply for a firearms certificate

2. Add up the number of guns you will need to store (better include any shotguns)

3. Multiply that number by 3.

4. Get cabinet(s) to accommodate the result.

5. Fast forward maybe 5 years and put on a post like this to try and solve your lack of space issue.

Hmmm. I treat my cabinets like my gun room - if, with a bit of “persuasion”, I can still get the door closed just enough to lock it then no further action is necessary…

Three turret scopes really do make things awkward. I am sure the Brattonsound Cabinets were designed for the old Mannlicher Schoeneur rifles and if scoped, were scoped with 4x32, 3-9x36 and the long range ones had 10x42 on a 1” tube. The 22 Brno wore a skinny little 3x 3/4” scope. The certainly haven’t changed their design in the last 30 odd years - a 5 rifle cabinet will fit about one chassis type rifle with a modern optic fitted.

I struggle to fit 4 target rifles fitted with turret scopes in my RL7+ without the turrets touching.. 3 are 40mm tubes scopes, and with the turrets take up some room.. In the end I just bought another RL7+

@J_Bar94 - how do you attach them to the cabinet? The obvious way is to use magnets, but I find them to be a bit slidey - even very strong ones.
I’m using 90lb magnets (very strong) I’ve got a fully loaded tikka t3x SV which is the heaviest of the lot currently and it holds it absolutely fine no sliding around at all

My local licensing was quite particular about having a cabinet size “rated” for the number of firearms/ SG. All in effort I’m sure to limit the numbers and so on. You can discuss with them till your blue in the face that just because it says “6 Gun” doesn’t mean you can only fit 6 in but as it was my first issue and I had carefully selected the calibres I wasn’t too bothered! Just happy I didn’t have to wait any longer as I’ve seen some 12 month + wait times from application 🙂

Again limited in space for my cabinet(s) but you just have to use whatever’s best for your home!

Must be nice to have the space I’m not so fortunate!

I think I'll use these as inspiration to print similar.
