Been out bunny bashing tonight with the 17 fitted with a swift mod, my friend commented on how much noise it made. To keep the noise down could i use the ASE Northstar that i use for my .243. Would this cause any problems? Both Rifles are 1/2 UNF thredded. Any advice would be great thanks

I tried a centre fire moderator on my 17 (DM80) and found it to be noisier (bigger bang) than the moderator I normally use that is intended for the 17 calibre, but the ASE Northstar could give good results!!,

Wildcat, UK Custom shop make a mod called Whisper, a strip down mod for the HMR, hope that helps.
Cheers

I use a PES overbarrel for my HMR, WMR, and .22
made for up to 243.
one peice shell, strippable to some extent, stainless.
very quiet

Got a SAK mod on mine! Works well, no powder blast, just the sonic crack! You can't do owt about that! Surely a centerfire mod will have a bigger port, and release more of the powder blast!

depends on what size hole it has!
they tend to be up to .25, up to .30 etc etc
pretty sure the majority of RF mods are all .25+

have yet to see one that is .17 specific.
even the airrifle ones are made for .177-.22.

DM80 Can be ordered in 17HMR calibre specific, just need to be aware that it may need cleaning before a .22 moderator would,
