Compulsory medical verification (with fee) - Beds./Cambs./Herts now.

It wouldn't be so bad if the fees were fixed and fair.
Thats's the challenge that I'd like to see. Surely the grant & renewal fees are fixed by parliament, not Chiefs of Police & GP surgeries. By adding a compulsory medical check contrary to Home Office guidance is this not in effect increasing the fee without the necessary Statutory Instrument being voted through parliament? I'm not going to join in the BASC bashing, that would merely be shooting the messenger but I would like to hear from David BASC if this avenue has been explored and taken up with any of the Police & Crime Commissioners etc.?

So why has David not answered this very good suggestion.

Perhaps because BASC welcomed the procedure by which applicants would have to pay for 'medical reports'? They might point out that this was meant to be only those who had a declarable medical condition - but it is a principle that was short-sightedly approved i.e. that applicants would have to pay for medical reports, which has proved problematic.

Seems to me about £1300 here is the relevant document - https://assets.publishing.service.g.../540585/administrative-court-fee-increase.pdf

I would suggest anything reasonable is worth it when £30 Million is the cost consequence of doing nothing.
One Org would however pay the £1300 whilst all of us individually would pay the £30M.

Just in case here is what to do for BASC Pre-Action Protocol for Judicial Review - Civil Procedure Rules

Can someone set up a funding page for this. I would donate £200. COME ON LADS. :old:

I would,be happy to put into a fundraiser to get this moving, win or loose, I think it’s time a stance was taken, it smacks of wrong on so many levels, and I’m a Basc member !
my membership expires in March and considering everything that’s coming to light I will be looking at the other orgs, shame as it’s just another splinter off the stake, but seems this stake has no point.

however, the first thing we would need would be a team to put it together and push it, someone who is literate and has a good level of intelligence, no point pushing an unmanned trolley down the hill, we need a pilot.

I Agree rob, do you have anyone in mind. :thumb: I think Kes would have to be in there.

So, in reality, what would be needed ?
My guesses would be

1)A name
2) A representative
3) an address
4) a fundraising page or funding what sort of figure we talking ???
5)legal advice
6)solicitors ( to draft any letters/proposals)

Of course I think kes, I’ve kept silent on previous threads about Basc council, but I believe he is the most articulate and intelligent person who can get the point he is trying to make across properly. Obviously it would be dependant on him wanting to take this forward.
‘I would be happy to donate, I would also do what ever I could to spread the word and raise funds, or any donkey type work (that’s about all I’m fit for).
