Cooling fans

I am looking at putting two cooling fans on the doors to my dog box . I thought of running two new fans for a computer which I have but but I dont think they will give enough air flow . I have bought two 9" radiator fans they will be controlled by a pigeon magnet speed control box that I have.
Or do I use one fan on the top of the dog box which will cover both compartments.
.

Be mindful that the fans don’t cool the dog down they just circulate the air. If the air is hot then it just pushes warm air around and could be more detrimental to the dog. Get your self a decent ventlock as well so the car can be secured and the air can be circulated.
A cooling mat would be better for the dog.👍

The dog box is in the canopy of my pickup .
With a rotating roof vent also sliding window open at the front of the canopy .
A cooling pad would more than likely be destroyed .

Same set up but didnt have the roof vent. The circulating air was actually fairly cool tbh.
I have a 12v socket in the back of the pickup so ran the wires to that, just had to be careful of anyone sticking anything down that side of the dog box

Mine has not got a 12v socket. I was thinking on running a cable from my canopy roof light as this only works with the side lights on .
I am going to put a thermometer in tomorrow and take temp reading while traveling for about an hr morning and early afternoon. . The only time I have worried is when stuck in a traffic jam for a few hrs . Took the dog out and put him in the pickup with me with aircon on .

As much as I appreciate your desire to care for your dog's to the highest level I can't help but think you might be over thinking this.

Must admit I painted my canopy black to match my pick up a few years ago.
And was worried the black would attract/draw the heat in, to be honest amazing how cool it is even on the hottest days.
I have put my head in/climbed in on the hottest days when parked up in the sun and always pretty cool.
U may be worrying about nothing, dunno if the dog boxes are any hotter than lose in canopy?

I will say if ur dogs are working it's amazing the heat comes off them, a mate converted an ifor mini stock trailer to a dog box, back top 2 foot just mesh and amazing the steam coming out with 6 off his dogs in after 2 drives for 11s.

Not over thinking I was travelling to angelsey the other day two hrs in the heat my aircon was not working it was hot in the cab . So how hot would it of been in the canopy. two mates of mine have trans k9 fans fitted but the cost for two units is over £250.00
My old pickup had a canopy with sliding windows it was great but the one I have now has solid sides.

Considered a shower extractor fan? Brushless motors, very quiet & high volume types also. Handy with any condensstion from wet dogs/panting being a shower type.
If your mains powered get an Alexa wall plug to plug it into, you can turn it on/off remotely or at set times for £10.
See these on amazon.

We actually have an air-con Lintran trailer for when we are away in the summer with all the dogs - its a fair bit dearer than that but it is an awesome bit of kit!

Dont know if you could modify these but they come with 2 batterys and charger and are 18v cordless

Ferrex 18V Li-Ion Cordless Fan

Got a couple a few weeks ago to use in the camper and awning, supposedly last upto 5 hours on a battery although i havent tried that out yet to see if they do or not

You can also buy a small evaopartive cooler on Amazon that runs off a USB charger. This will actually cool the air rather than just blowing it around.

I guess you can buy the windows and then just cut them into your canopy.
I've just changed my truck so I have the same concerns. My old truck had sliding windows on the sides and the bulkhead so always pleanty of air movement while the new truckman canopy has the sliding side windows.
I'm considering fitting some form of extractor but currently haven't got sorted.

I got a secondhand damaged canopy the same make as mine. It had side windows mine didn’t. Careful marking out and then cutting out, followed by some holes for the screws. Well worth it though it was a lot easier to get good air flow for the dogs.
