Hello there

I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what this might be and if treatment is possible at home before she is taken to the vets..
It has happened before and gone away but here to stay and getting worse this time.. have been keeping it clean and used purple spray on it which she doesn't like one bit.
Any info would be much appreciated as I am relatively new dog owner

Cheers

Had something similar on my Lab, and my son's Cocker. Thing is there are so many different things it could be, with so many different causes(trauma, infection, eczema, dermatitis, parasites........) that you really need to take the dog to the vet.

Had similar on my springer wash ears daily with baby shampoo and see if you get any improvement.
Mine did and hers where a lot worse and painful when I first noticed them, also due to springers long ear hair I cut it short in summer when she wasn’t working

As scapegoat said, could be a few different skin conditions, could even be fleas, my first option is a baby shampoo and see if it starts clearing up.

My lab had them. I always start any minor skin condition with a regular wash of hibescube if that's how it spelt, then when dry germaline.
As hib is a good cleanser and the germaline has a mild local anesthetic and antiseptic.
My HWV occasionally licks the inside of he back leg and makes it red and I treat it like this and it works
Then if that nothing improves or gets worse off to the vet but so far I haven't had to do this

My Border has pretty regular ear infections, all have been yeast fungus based. She was at the vet two weeks ago with the same issue, hard crusty scabs on her hear flap which was yeast. Personally I would take to the vets so they can check the ear canal and drum for infection which is the important part.

Hope all goes well.

My lab had this, tried all sorts until I spoke to a hound trailing guy, his first question was ‘what percentage protein dog food is she on? Unless she’s working 3-4 full days a week you don’t want any food over 20% protein...’
Changed her food from a 24% working dog mix to a 19% protein mix and it cleared up in a fortnight.
She got some pasta in the morning before a days shooting just to top up and was fine with no recurrence of the problem.
I hope you get it sorted.👍🏻

A trainee vet tried to tell me this was ringworm, a notifiable disease. After a nightmare of applying toxic drenches (on the Pennine Way of all places, it turned out to be an allergy to flea bites.

Thanks mate, I had read about food allergies but haven't read this yet so interesting point, I was going to try to change her food if nothing gives incase it was an allergy to chicken which is apparently quite common..👌

Thanks mate , I will do.. just wondered if there were any easy fixes but if no improvement within 7 days then to the experts it is ha!

Thanks mate, a few ppl have recommended the hibis... to me so I might get some and keep it in with her ever growing kit 👍

Cheers mate , I asked my mum to try that this morning so fingers crossed 🤞 I'm over in Africa so I'm just trying to give her a few options to try before the vets.

Thanks mate , she will end up there if no improvement but you're right there seems to be a multitude of possible causes

That is a very goof point as my Border has skin allergies and flare ups of yeast infections in here ear. Her food was changed as it turned out she is gluten intolerant or might have Spike's disease. Any way she has zero gluten in her food now and seems far better les flair up and far less of the crippling stomach cramps.

Hi
Any news?
Hello mate

Well the vet gave her some antibiotics which after a few days seemed to help but im now hearing its started breaking out again on her ears so they are giving more antibiotics.. so hopefully this time round it will clear it. They didn't mention what it was.
