Heard several up Ennerdale yesterday, including one from clear across the lake. Loads of skylarks this year too, all over the fells hereabouts. Plenty of evidence the peregrines are feeding well on woodies too.
Hi i was on my way home today and spotted a bird flying about, I knew what it was i couldn’t believe it so got home got my binos and camera and biked the 41/2 miles to where I’d seen it and found it perched so took a few pics, this is the first peregrine Falcon I’ve seen this year bazil
Thanks the green man for your like but if you like that take a look a this one, I saw him about 3 years ago and you could see the stich marks he’s always with a doe so the can still get his remaining front leg over lol bazil ps I took these pics last month
Thats like the doe i shot a few years back ,she was struggling across a clear fell and i couldn,t see at the time opposite side there wasnt even a mark ,it looked like she only had three even when butchered there was no damage internally.
Not heard a cuckoo yet but my neighbour said he heard one last week be also said he saw a swallow around about the same time, seen no swallows although I look for them every day if they are here they must be very few in number.
the osprey's are a back though see one fishing on the loch most days.
Spring is definitely here though Geans and bird cherry are in bloom A!der and Hazel now in leaf and the Birch trees which for
the last week or so has had a faint green sheen are today covered in fresh new green leaf.
I saw two cuckoo at Holming Beam today. I’d just got out of the car when I heard the call and the birds came out of the tree line about 10m away. Managed to watch them for a couple of minutes.
Watching a buzzard Monday morning drifting about high up sun glare then into view my first swift this season, I was so surprised, I turned to her who must be obeyed who was walking on ahead to say what I'd seen, then looking back up no swift were to be seen! My thought since is that it/they were on their way some where else and not local to this area?
