As the thread on subject is no longer open for further replies, what are the thoughts on the above, Manufacturer / Builder / Cartridge -Cal. ?

Stateside, but worth a look at what they're using:
Also worth speaking to C2 Precision, the owner being at the leading edge of UK PRS stuff I'm led to believe?
Yeah Josh will sort you out.

I think the question very much depends on budget and Division you intend to shoot in.

I shoot an AI AT .308 in a Vision Chassis in Limited/Tactical Division.

Alot of Open shooters use various Chassis with a mixture of custom actions, mostly with some sort of 6mm cartridge.

Factory/Production you could easily use a Tikka T3X CTR in 6.5mm and be able to compete.

Stalking with a 6.5PRC at present, shot steel at Eskdale recently & was happy 100% at 500, with current stalking scope ... got me thinking about going out to longer distances , had a good read bout' that 4.4 mile shoot in USA a while back o_O

It is an absolute cracker - sadly not used for intended purpose but PRS comps in our area didn’t pan out and I just don’t have the time (or inclination) to travel
Josh at C2 Precision is going to be hosting some in Exmoor. That should be close enough to you I presume looking at your profile?

Back on topic..

@finnbear270 what sort of budget are you looking at?

Have you popped up to one of the PRS UK matches as a spectator? Had a nosey at what is commonly used?

you can shoot PRS with anything to get started , most people now use a chassis which gives you options for bags and balance weights (i use an MDT ACC) you could do worse than a remmy 700 , plenty of stuff for it aftermarket plus when the time comes you can easily replace the action with a custom 700 profile action and keep all the stuff you are already happy with ?

calibres causes a lot of debate but there is a broad range of suitable calibres , there is no need for anything too shouty or big , the sweet spot is 6.5 creedmoor or more recently the 6mm's but again , no need for super high performance , what you need is controllable recoil so you can spot your own shots and a reasonable signature if you miss so you can see the splash hopefully and correct

any of the known builders can build you a PRS gun but frankly you can build your own if you want as you shouldnt need to bed a good chassis so it's only really barrel work you may need ?

you need reliable feed and a couple of mags , personally i really like the AICS system with creedmoor since i've found it very reliable , you can of course use 6br or similar with suitablely modified mags just don't forget your special mags ! if you run standard AICS the PRS community is very helpful and i bet if you forgot your mags someone would lend you some i know i would.

it's a great discipline but manage your expectations as i have seen some very accomplished competition shooters (CSR/F class etc) struggle , it's a challenging sport !

Budget is a thing of limitless imagination :norty:

Just need to get a little vixen out of the shop & into the slip, before a real effort is exerted, prolly sometime in 24 ... have a nice 34 mm tube Elite 21 mag & 20 moa mount on shelf just now in a little anticipation.
