The unbought rifle

You're only here once. If you can afford something and you have a yearning for it, then go for it! So long as it doesn't make you destitute. When you've had it for a bit you can always sell it on and get back most the dosh.
I agree 100%.

I have learned the hard way that we do not know what tomorrow is going to bring. If a person wants to get something or go somewhere then my advice is do it.

There are some who constantly keep changing rifles, cars, hobbies, wives etc. I think they have a constant desire for something new and shiny or that they haven’t got. It’s their money.

However I think there is something to be said for choosing wisely and spending the money well, but then grow that relationship beyond that first honeymoon period. I have guns that I have had since late 80’s - they have lots of memories and stories to tell. I don’t have to think when using them and they shoot where I look.

I am a fan of " this is your hobby" so find which rabbit holes you want to jump in to.
Calibre, stocks, genres, era, history, etc are all valid points to explore...who knows, it may become a lifetime fascination!

I give myself 2 weeks to make a decision about buying the latest s/h barging I have bought for the store, at present it is a BRNO 465 , 1949, four number serial number, in calibre .22x36Ho. Why am I waiting ?, because I sold mine 6+ yrs ago, and I have a 1939 Nz army .22 vickers trainer on the shelf asking me to love it more.

I have been watching a Tikka T3 6.5x55 on here for along time . The idea was to then set it up the same as my T3 .308 with same stock and scope.
Do i need the hassle of a one for one and getting rid of a RWS titan 6 barrel in 6.5x55

I will keep watching for now and hope it goes

I was once humming and hawing over a beautiful CF2 Stutzen on Guntrader. After a week or so of deliberation I decided to pull the trigger (so to speak) and buy it.

Only to find it had sold minutes before!

I’ve got the same itch about my car. Currently a Passat a few years old in very good condition. The itch is for an Audi A4 9.5 model. There are a few I can afford, but the cost of read tax (2023 model on) is going to stop me ….//
If you buy the Audi, make sure the indicators work.

yep still have an itch for a .22 hornet. just the pain of paying for a variation and how long to obtain it.
Brain says why as have my .223 and have plenty of components to reload for it, heart says you only liveonce.
😂

Not so much rifles but all other manner of kit & even clothing. Sometimes I'll know something is a right bargain, but still don't want to put my hand in my pocket!!
