Disneyfication and public perception.

I worry sometimes. I really do. Baby deer, baby robins, the "murder" of pheasants and all the rest. The only "murder" I know of bird wise is a murder of crows. As my son's Jamaican mother would always say "Animal is animal". Meaning that they are animals and NOT human beings.

These inane comments are the results of anthropomorphization of animals by Disney, Warner Bros., etc., Aided and abetted by the complete dislocation of the urban population from anything approaching rural life and the cancerous disease that are smart phones, tiktok, snap chat etc., The use of such media reduce the IQ of the user significantly. Ok rant over, I feel slightly better!

Yeah that one came up on my feed as well.My favourite Facebook one was recently on a local missing pets was someone asking who they should contact for help as they have a pair of magpies that nest in their garden every year and the nest had blown out of the tree. One or two pointed out the problems magpies can create but was very tempted to ask who they thought put the nest there in the first place.

“Why did they not try and take the baby out first?”
And we worry about the environment??.
I’ve always said more of a threat is the intellect of the human race on a spiral downwards into oblivion.
I do think it's a perfectly natural human reaction, in the event of an expectant mother being killed, to wonder about the fate of the unborn offspring and question whether anything could have been done to save them. I don't think we should be too critical of that, particularly given the number of stalkers who's mental health would be adversely affected if they had to shoot heavily pregnant hinds (according to the Scottish Gamekeepers Association, in their argument against a proposed extension of the season for shooting female deer in Scotland).

Pretty sure the guy who has Muncaster castle hand reared a roe fawn removed from the doe after a rtc. It probably helped that the rtc was outside his house and he is a vet so had everything to hand and the skills to do it.

Followed him around like a pet dog by all accounts 🤷🏻‍♂️

Now. I quite fancy the idea of a pet muntjac just following me about always being busy in it's funny muntjac way

There is a member on here with a pet muntjac - love the idea but do worry about the practicalities of it though. Understand both roe and muntjac does can become quite domesticated but the bucks sadly are too territorial and intolerant during rut times.

My family's housekeeper, Bessie, had a friend called Kath who was a farmer. Who'd she'd visit twice a year. One Spring in the 1960s she visited Kath to see she was bottle feeding a cade lamb. "He's called Larry" said Kath. Some months later that same year it was time for Bessie to visit Kath again. And well entertained she was to Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. The question was then asked "Where's Larry?" Came the reply "We've just eaten him."

Reminds me of an ex girlfriend’s brother explaining about her not eating lamb after the hand reared nibbles vanished only to be seen again with mint sauce.
