willie-runn Thank you for correcting me on my previous comments.
So why is DSC2 so costly when it is only ticking boxes and issuing a certificate.
And AW do most of the work some for a fee other's are free.
It is a lot more than “only ticking boxes”.
The concept of DSC2 is that the Candidate is being observed and assessed against a defined standard. This requires them to agree on the cull plan, identify which animals are on the list for culling, identify, stalk and cull a specified animal, complete a post-cull evaluation and inspection of the animal, transport it hygenically to the larder, larder the animal and complete the relevant records.
The AW is then observing the Candidate throughout the Witnessed stalk, making sure each of the Performance Criteria is met.
This can be a pretty intensive process, both for the Candidate and for the AW.
Afterwards there is an ICR and narrative to complete, and an interview between the Assessor and both the Candidate and the AW.
In addition, there can often be quite a bit of prep work to evaluate the Candidate and ensure they are suitably prepared for the Witnessed stalk.
