Do I need adjustable PX?

Whilst there is probably more chance of Elon putting people on Mars before my FAC grant is processed I've figured some sensible pre buying of kit as opportunities arise isn't a bad thing if the prices are right.... especially second hand we're re-sale losses can be minimised.

So thinking about scopes I need some advice as all my prior experience is with air rifle shooting where adjustable PX and mil dots / additional aim points is really a necessity but is it such an issue with CF when stalking? My thinking is typical stalking shot distances won't show any meaningful bullet drop and if your in close for a humane dispatch shot or similar you'd just drop the mag to x3 or x4 power....?

ami along the right lines here or am I totally wrong and should be looking only at scopes with adjustable PX?

What variable mag are you going for?

I find it just as useful to have Adjustable PX on scopes used for woodland stalking as those deployed on open ground. Whatever my mag setting I leave the PX set at circa 50-yards - most fixed-power and variable scopes without APX are factory set at 100-yards.

I started off with adjustable parallax, illuminated reticles, multiple aiming points, high(ish) magnification and 56mm objectives on my stalking scopes.

Now, as my experience and knowledge has developed, I have fixed parallax, simple non-illuminated reticles without additional aiming points, maximum 8× magnification and 50mm objectives.

But I have better quality glass.

Make of that what you will!
