Seems the test has been made a little easier than when I took my mine?

A friend had a sight malfunction part way through his shooting and failed.fail to prepare PREPARE TO FAIL <how does any one fail the dsc1 shooting test ?> i admire the op honesty but !!
This is true there was some guys on my course wasn’t allowed a “deer” caliber until they done the DSC1… The reason for my T3 Hunter .243 was for target shootingPlenty will fail it as many people get ushered into DSC by the police as a requirement before they’ll grant a rifle - which means some have never had a chance to shoot or practice, or possibly not practice with the specific rifle and setup they use for the DSC.
It doesn’t help that there are inconsistencies between the people doing the DSC - I’ve read some of them on here - some get to practice, some don’t, some are told not to adjust the scope?? (What a load of nonsense!) etc.
Make sure you have practiced each part of the test at least 5 times!
People get "ushered" because they start the process before they have thought it through, then once in the "system" then fences have to be jumped. Learning to drive is what many people start once the have a provisional licence with it being reasonable they should understand they need to take lessons and gain experience. To ignore the basic examples of what we do (well most of us) in our daily lives then these type of posts will roll on again and again.Plenty will fail it as many people get ushered into DSC by the police as a requirement before they’ll grant a rifle - which means some have never had a chance to shoot or practice, or possibly not practice with the specific rifle and setup they use for the DSC.

They get ushered because the police will do anything in many cases to make sure nothing is their accountability - many don’t even know what a DSC entails yet is used as a buzzword.People get "ushered" because they start the process before they have thought it through, then once in the "system" then fences have to be jumped. The OP is new to shooting, according to his intro, so perhaps lack of opportunities to prepare?
Plenty of experienced stalkers fail that simple test too. They're the ones you ought to be critical of.
It’s not uncommon at all - it’s very simple to the “my rifle is 1 MOA” yet when many are asked on the spot to do it I would say the majority can’t do it consistently. When I sat my test, two experienced shots failed. One was nerves and the other was due to over confidence and using a stupid set up that he hadn’t used before.
There are dozens of things in life that we are responsible for each day without being "ushered" by the police, from what I see these days people walk along the streets looking at their phone or sit and wait for their car to be washed so it it not surprising they don't look into what is involved in firearmsThey get ushered because the police will do anything in many cases to make sure nothing is their accountability - many don’t even know what a DSC entails yet is used as a buzzword.
It should not be linked to a grant at all: if they want minimum proficiency then they should create training that is just that - training for firearms in general and not just falling onto a course specific to deer stalking.

If you have not got fixed up yet, give Anthony at Humberside Shooting Ground a call. When I did my DSC1 last year with BDS there were a couple of shooters who fluffed the shooting test and I'm certain he said he is an approved assessor for retakes.Hi, Iv recently failed my shooting assessment but I’m struggling to find a course near to me in West Yorkshire to resit that part. Does anybody do private assessments etc
Thanks in advance
