DSC1 shooting test

I did mine about ten days ago with this result on a rainy, windy day:

That's the removable "paster" replaced for each shooter. Group size was almost exactly 2" centre-to-centre.

Here's a pic of both the zeroing targets and the deer silhouette:

(Not my groups).

Fired with a lightweight Sako 6.5 x 55mm rifle here (looking back from targets towards shooting positions):

The prone stage off my bipod wasn't challenging. The kneeling/seated stage was probably the most difficult as we had most of the distance, yet a lot less support.

My tip? Use low 'scope magnification for the closer shots. Remember: high magnification not only magnifies your target, it emphasises your wobble at a moment when you need all the morale you can get!

Gents,

Bi-pod on for the 100 zero and 100 deer target, you could use a rolled up roe sack if you don't have a bi-pod. Then if you wish bi-pod taken off for the other shooting disciplines or even left on but closed when you shoot off sticks is fine. So long as throughout all you are using is equipment that would normally be used in the field. Sitting or kneeling, long bi-pod, short sticks as suggested by others, even a single stick helps in that position.

You can shoot using any recognised, safe technique, if you want my advice: Because it is an assessment don't try to be clever, use whatever you are allowed to, any sticks will improve anyones grouping performance massively.

Good luck, and enjoy it  best regards.

Jon.
