I'd like to add my thanks to Pierre, the Pauls and Andrew at Gap180 - most enjoyable weekend although I was the only one who managed to shoot the most valuable prize - the rare tripod fox :D

kjf - glad the pre-minced munty was good, although I doubt it was as good as the stuff we ate during the course! Good to meet you too, glad you got home safely.

Hi spandit, I had a closer look at the pics of that 3 legged fox, when I got home, positive I can see 'sutures' on the stump, plus the skin fully covers the 'clean' stump. no evidence of necrosis or exposed bone. I think it was a fixed up and released Fox, which has now expired, good to meet you on the course too Bud.

It did look in pretty good nick. How do these people think a fox with three legs is going to hunt effectively? Frankly, that's cruelty to animals if it turns out they did release it.

We had a 3 legged fox around the farm for years, and it seemed to manage ok but never bothered the farm animals.
It lost its leg when hiding in some long grass as the tractor drove past ,It had obviously decided that the driver had not seen it so it stayed put but unfortunately the grass mower blades were a bit more observant.

I think the land I was shooting on belongs to a sheep farmer who is probably keen to have any foxes controlled. Had it had 4 or 5 legs I would have given it the same lethal treatment
