Edinburgh

You could go to the Scottish Parliament and say hi to wee Jimmy plus you can see what hundreds of millions of public money can build.

Used to get a bit of stalking around Peebles area few years back plenty of roe then anyway one estate was offering deer safaris not too far south of Edinburgh 👍

I was saddened to learn that the famous Department Store Jenners (House of Fraser) closed during the pandemic. Apparently the building is subject to redevelopment but can’t imagine Edinburgh Rifles will be offered a lease in the great hall!

If you have transport then a wee trip to Fife might be the thing with a visit to the Scottish Deer Centre at Auchtermuchty. On the way back you could pop in to Cluny Country Store, who have a well stocked gun room and if you are in to clay shooting then Cluny Activities (a couple of miles along the road) have a great sporting set up.

if you are driving then loch leven castle is within and hour as is inchmahome island on the lake of menteith. bisley braidwood is in the borders and the previously mentioned Edinburgh rifles. dont dress for 30c temps up here 🤣. you can also get busses to bonaly and the pentlands easily and give great views of the city. as does arthurs seat and the queens park/holyrood.

If you're travelling by car, Bywell shooting ground is a good place to have a pit stop, just south of Alnwick on the A1. Cracking gunroom and a good supply of rifle ammunition and shotgun cartridges. Cafe and clay ground. Check the website, I think it's closed on Mondays.
