Element Optics Helix 8x56 thoughts

Just seen an elements optics helix 8x56 and it fits the bill of something I have been looking for specifically an 8x fixed power with a graticule reticle.

Has anyone used one? Thoughts? Comparison to Hungarian 8x56, how thick are the cross hairs? Glass quality?

Good afternoon ,i use element optics <titan in my case> excellent glass and no complaints. i have had s+b scopes and maybe the last 10 minutes of day light the smit is better but i dont shoot at last light any way.

I have and shoot with an element helix 8x56

I got my from Optics warehouse for £259.99 I think I could get another new one at that price too if your interested.

They come with flip up caps. Track well, holds zero and has dispatched 10-12 deer since I got it. In terms of light transmission I’m sure they state it as a percentage somewhere online

It has great clarity but I can’t say If it’s comparable at last light to some of the big names

I do a lot of forestry shooting so fixed mag is great

Can say you could comfortably place a shot to 250m with 8x mag but after that your better with variable mag for hill stalking

My favourite thing is the fine fine retinal lines unlock s&b which look like they are done with a marker

Good quality scopes; I've got an HD2 that does everything I want it to.

I bought one as I thought the graduated reticule would be really good. The cross hairs are very fine, I wanted it on my 223 for foxing. My 22250 has an s and b 8 x 56.
The element was fine in daylight but at night under a lamp it was a bit murky and the reticule was too thin. I'd been spoilt with the Schmidt. I had it a week and sent it back and bought another Schmidt 8 x 56. They just work, no messing just point and shoot.

Thank you all, really helpful. If they are. Super fine I will stick to a Schmidt as i regularly shoot low light

I haven't used the Element but a secondhand S&B is so reasonably priced if you like the reticle I wouldn't think twice.

i used an element for a couple of years, only swapped to a Z8i but kept the helix incase i get another rifle

My idea scope would be a 8x56 Hungarian but with mil dots.
