I get 456 miles from a tank of cheap diesel, 520 from premium. Tested it several times, stats hold true

I use the cheapest fuel I can - recycling used cooking oil (which I get for free)
Get a decent return mileage wise and less pollutants.

No - although all the dafties with tuned up engines in their cars will tell you it's better - which is just a classic case of confirmation bias

I’ve just got a little petrol euro 6 van and it’s shaved an easy £100 a week off my 14k PA fuel bill only use the landcruiser now for shooting related work, deer stalking taking the teckles out or towing

these little pop pops are a real money saver on fuel, servicing and road tax 20k between servicing

pleased I got it - nice to see money coming my way for change

Came with 205/16’s and I got around 670 Miles per tank, changed to 235/85R16 and not surprisingly it dropped a lot. But the fuel saving by using premium holds true.

My truck returns about 4 or 5 mpg more from V-Power diesel than from the standard Texaco fuel which I sometimes have to put in it. It’s definitely more responsive with premium fuel and I have had no DPF trouble since I started using it. Definitely worth the extra cost.

There is a definite difference in fuels from different outlets. When I got my first diesel back in 2000 (2L Mondeo) I thought I was imagining it as there were times when it seemed I got significantly more milage from one tank than another. So I started to keep an eye on it.

Whenever I filled up at Tesco, Sainsbury and BP I got significantly worse fuel consumption (somewhere between 10 & 15% worse) than if I filled up at Esso or especially Shell. I was driving around 36000 a year at that time and claiming back fuel on company milage so it made a big difference to my costs. This was a little before the fuel companies started putting additives in and I also started using a fuel additive that improved it even more and easily covered the cost of the additive.

I buy my fuel via Shell agency card and it is charged at an average UK price.... my Shell local outlet is price matching Morrisons and for 5p a litre more i can buy Shell V Power diesel by my debit card instantly. Is it worth the 5p extra?

Yes it is. People who say there’s no difference between regular and this are wrong. I guarantee you will get more mpg and a smoother, quieter more potent engine running V power. Doesn’t even need to be a tuned car, I ran 10 tanks of standard BP diesel in my insignia estate and 10 of the higher garage ultimate. There was a difference in average MPG of 6 miles! Same journeys, same conditions. The car also performs far better on ultimate.

I had a friend in Ireland that made poteen. One evening he bought a bottle of Laphroaig round and I had a dram. It was watered down poteen coloured with a spot of tea and two spots of TCP in the bottle. I would have defied most people to tell the difference between that and the stuff from Islay.
