Finally...the tide of opinion is turning

This dude is right on the money. The entire NZ has gone into lockdown based on the best medical advice with one case. The best medical advice is from Ireland.

We are pursuing the elimination strategy here, police, army are deployed. $5000 fines for being 5km from your house. Helicopters using thermal are tracking people after 9pm curfew.

I'm approaching 200 days locked up 23 hours a day.

Started wearing an eyepatch and calling myself Snake Plissken

I think I may have been at that same hotel in Perthshire.
The rule was simple - if you are sitting down, you don't need to wear a mask.
If your're standing up or walking around wear a mask
What's so bad or difficult about that?

Cheers

Bruce

NZ and Aus do seem to have a single solution “Plan A” lockdowns followed by more lockdowns
The plan A has been a great social experiment. One year ago they proclaimed they had the most enviable position in the world, now they have the most despised position outside North Korea.

If we can save just one life. By destroying millions of others.

200 days down, another 165 to go.
We can do it to eliminate the virus for the 6th time and we have done our bit.
200 billion dollars down the drain. Great stuff.

Agreed, but its also not a useful way of showing the data.

I humbly submit that the ONS data compilers disagree with you.

Look at the source data again. It is their table, constructed to allow comparison between the death rates of 1838 [343k] and 2020 [600k] , and all years between.

If they just published number of deaths per annum, 2020 would look just twice as bad as 1838.

To allow those who struggle with numbers to compare 1838 and 2020 appropriately, the death rate per 100 000 population is given.

Death per 100 000 can be turned into a % population...which is the graph at bottom. Hope all clear.

Just to poke the bear a bit...new study in the news by Oxford University about the ability of transmission after being double jabbed.

It makes the govs case for passports even more pointless.

And it gets better. Now the government will tax any company that is still going for a mental health levy. Outstanding.

Well its all unraveling. The elimination strategy, the lockdowns been extended.

NSW declared 9pm Curfew from today. Police Minister declares he has more left in the tank for restrictions.

VIC is now saying probably by this weekend all daycare, as well as all schools statewide are shutdown. Statewide 9pm curfew and if necessary they will keep it going until Christmas plus they can go harder.

By that stage I will have spent 315 days locked up about 22. 3 hours per day

Melbourne can do it. We can be the world leaders, providing sort of control of citizens that would make North Korea blush.

If we can keep just one person safe we will achieved our objectives based on the best medical advice from the experts.

The massive demonstrations against covid passports and lockdowns are sweeping the globe but go unreported in the press.

Almost nobody in Australia is protesting against passports or vaccinations. They are protesting about being locked down, some people such as me hit 216 days yesterday averaging 22.5 hours per day. The first lockdown was 23 hours per day.

The police and media are saying they are anti vax but that is BS because they started protesting last year when there was no vaccine.

The protests have been extremely peaceful, even if the police have targeted individuals and just faceplanted them. One ran his horse into someone and then when the person blocked the head of the horse it was reported that he punched the horse when you see the video he was defending himself.

What politicians, health officials and the police thugs don't like is any challenge. After the 5 odd protests I know off, some in their thousands, not one was reported later as a superspreader even but the police tried their hardest to beat and arrest pensioners who had been locked up for 4 months for 23 hours a day. It is pathetic and has dropped my view of police to an all time low.

The death knell for the covid vaccine mandates has to be the sum of the science and, in particular, the most recent Danish study which demonstrated that Omicron spread fastest in the triple vaccinated population.

If intensive use of these imperfect vaccines are actually facilitating covid VOC spread, surely we should all be fighting against vaccine mandates in healthcare workers?

It seems like wisdom to help fund those who fight illogical and unscientific mandates that may make healthcare workers become asymptomatic conduits of viral infection to those using NHS services.

Oh dear, it seems you can read what you want into anything. Then proselytise, In your parallel universe.

What is it about

that you do not understand ?

Please elaborate, what do you mean by "imperfect vaccines" ? As for them "facilitating Covid spread" what planet are you living on ? I see no wisdom in your speculation. Do you " help fund those who fight illogical and unscientific mandates that may make healthcare workers become asymptomatic conduits of viral infection to those using NHS services." ?

No vaccination = increased transmission vs. two vaccinations.

Two vaccinations + booster = least transmission.

FWIW, in the UK, we are pretty much all going to be exposed to Omicron, assuming we actually live our lives, whilst its rampant. But most of the people who have it/had it self diagnosed once symptomatic with lateral flow tests, isolated/took precautions (didn't stop me going for a lonely walk in the woods, masked up and avoiding all others), never presented themselves for PCR confirmation, do not appear on any UK statistics and see no reason why to, or any need to have contacts tracked and traced (if that is still a thing). Speaking from personal knowledge, of myself and several other family, friends and acquaintances.

Can we catch it again ? Probably, if we even notice it the next time.

All of us grateful that we were at least double vaxed, and most boosted recently. I do think that that reduces the chance of it developing into something worse than a moderate dose of flu, and a couple of weeks of fatigue. Currently still tired, so staying in and irritating TSDers with too much talk from me, since a bit bored. But confident that I am no longer shedding, a risk to others.

Indeed, I think that is pretty much govt. guidance now. At least in England.

BTW the lateral flow tests can light up like a rainbow if you definitely have it. And can continue doing so for a week.

PS: you have never answered my previous questions. Have you had vaccination(s), or not ? Because, if not, you may be severely curtailing any plans for foreign travel (or return) anytime soon. Or are you just a stirrer on a mission, with a stockpile of Ivermectin, just in case ? You've been a bit quiet about Ivermectin recently.

I'm not sure what to make of the healthcare and care workers who still refuse. I am sad for them, but more importantly for those who may need their services. Quite how, or why, and who influenced their personal decisions, well meaning or more malign, I would not know.

As for those who " help fund those who fight illogical and unscientific mandates" well, each their own I suppose.

What's that all got to do with the price of eggs?

24 day isolation for household close contacts. You ,I together we can eliminate the virus based on the best NZ medical advice.

What outstanding leadership. It would make Fair Hill proud they have stuck to their guns and through 24 day isolation will eliminate the virus showing the world how its done.
