Just shot my "nemesis" fox - been after her for 2 weeks - just got to keep going and eventually it comes

Dont be shooting anything else would be my suggestion - if you are foxing you are foxing - disturbing the area shooting before can alter their pattern of movement that you will have built up by baiting days previous

Do you have a spotter as well as a scope or scan with a scope - a bit of a no no - although some will disagree perhaps

I’m using a thermal spotter at the moment - seems to work really well!

I've skim read this thread so apologies if I repeat anyone. I've only been after the foxes for 6 or7 years so by no means as experienced as others. What I have found is to focus on the field craft, once the fox clocks you or even just gets the sense theres something amiss you'll be on the back foot. Have fun.

find a few good vantage points. find out where the foxes move to and from and work out the wind to your favour. i never call unless necessary. the less they know the wearabouts of me the better. be prepared for sleepless nights. where you mess it up or they just vanish. carry spare batteries. heated socks are great for winters sitting out.

Seriously if you want to shoot foxes get some bait going in the right area and get a comfy high seat put up, they have paths/routes they like to travel, and get a bit of regular bait going under a few clods of earth and when they are on it bingo... if you have the foresight to get a bait station going a month or so before the breeding season starts and can resist shooting it until breeding is just getting in full swing you can have multiple hits in one night, always empty the bladder of the vixens out around the baited area, the more foxes visiting and crapping & pi$$ing everywhere the better.
