To be honest my furthest stalking is 1.5 hours away and I normally stay overnight so not too bad my nearest bit is 30 mins away but if prices keep going up I think I’ll be staying overnight there too to get two stalks for price of one as I’ve got a caravan there

It’s not looking great out there right now
We had planned Scotland and Norfolk for 5 days each stalking and chilling mid June whilst off I think one of them is going to have to go if it gets worse
 
I did the conversion yesterday about £3-4.50 per gallon in the US dependant on state, Its £9.50 over here for context at 180p...... :doh:

I dont buy fuel but I believe before all this I think It was 135-145 In my local area! This is D&G what as far as I'm aware has been struggling the most.

Can’t help feeling that Easter madness with everyone desperate to fill up to go and see family has not helped in terms of fuel supply.

I suspect once everyone gets back to normal work life things will ease.

UK Government needs to seriously and strategically think about our own strategic industries.

Why the **** are we having to import diesel, petrol and Jet A1 when we had perfectly good refineries that produced most of what we needed all from production in the North Sea.

At least we have now lost our fixation of hanging onto the coat tails of the USA. It is very clear there is no longer a special arrangement. Trump wants to withdraw from NATO, well in that case he can forego US bases in the UK - Fairford etc.

At very least UK should increase the cost to the US of operating out of the UK to compensate for all the additional costs we now have to bear.
 
Did a mileage check on saturday from my place to my estate.
6 weeks ago £45 saturday £69.70
Plus £20 to take carcasses to dealer next day.
Plus chiller cost and electricity for same.
But what else do we do
 
If the fuel in America were the same price as ours in the UK, America would grind to a halt, given its size, the haulage costs would make everything unaffordium.

Electric cars are selling well this Easter :rolleyes:

Yeah Its really surprising when you do the conversions at just how more expensive fuel Is over here even when were at normal prices.

Not too mention £2 Is worth a lot more in general every day life than $2 too, my grocery bill per week when I'm properly shopping and making meals Is maybe £40-50 a week, with a good £20 or so on junk-food, healthy treats, and fizzy juice.

Having almost all my meat being venison helps sure, but even then Bacon and chicken are a fraction of the prices they are in the US.
 
I don't like the way is going, but i'm lucky as i've got all my expenses covered by my land owners , on the furthest permission i have, about 180 miles round trip.
The nearest one is about 10 minutes away , and the other ones all within an hour.

It will be a whole different experience if you camp & hunt, you've probably already done it. I think you get that much closer to nature as a result.

I'd be a veggie if it wasn't for the venison & gamebirds.
I've rarely purchased butcher's meat. I'm a bit lucky that I get some pork and poultry given to me by producers I do vermin control for.
