Right then - real world update on the cheap pocket caller.
First time out last night in not the best conditions - muggy/thick air etc…
Three foxes definitely came in to the caller plus one that I may have walked into so definitely a major
shock surprise but a rather good one!
Using the caller was very straightforward and I was even able to turn it on and off and select calls - wearing thin leather gloves. The only improvement I will make is to insert a silent “gap” between different calls to avoid the sudden change from one call to another - trust me that can be a shock for the fox and you!
I developed a method of just hanging the caller on the front pole of the quads (with the red display pointing towards me) but this will need fettling as it fell off at one stage into the mud! Maybe a sqeezable mobile phone cradle fixed to the quad sticks - to be considered…. I also tried setting it on top of a fence post and moving away some distance but again be aware of change in calls. To address this I will copy more of each call onto the SD card - currently I have perhaps 5- 10 minutes of each call on the 32 Card but there is plenty of space on the card for more.
If dipping into the quagmire that is FB’s thoughts do take a note of the individual calls numbering, this makes it easy to tap each in and have the full run of individual calls - I put the starting numbers on the back of the caller and copied the details onto a Note on my Iphone to be sure.
As on the earlier post, my post on the “out last night” thread shows the results incl. videos.
