We've been using wood silk on furniture for 25 years Never thought of using it on a stock. I have a tin of craft made wood wax which I bought online like 10 years ago which is based on bees wax and turpentine I believe. You use so little - i'm not sure i'll ever finish it.

I have been using it for years too, but I only apply it IF the gun is likely to get a wetting. It is not slippy in use and water bounces off the wood. Most of the people I shoot with now use the same stuff and I have not heard any complaints. The added bonus is it does NOT have the word 'GUN' written on it so is under £1.50 a can.

Cheers for the compliment. Only thing I’d add is that it’s raw linseed oil and not boiled though.

Yes that's right, I meant raw. Its been a while since I did it. I guess that's proof it works !!
