Help me choose a K95

I have not had any issue with finding factory ammo, I got RWS 123g factory ammo at my local dealers to start with and Sellier & Bellot cases online and reload the TTsx.
It would be worth finding out what availability is in your area as the 7x57r is very polite and shootable without a mod, appreciating that is not an option for you but it would mean you could choose the smallest, lightest mod to complement the rifle if it was in this caliber.
I would also stay with a rimmed cartridge if you can as they unload by tipping the gun up, no faffing about trying to remove a spent case.
As for the 7x57r, not a UK deer species I wouldn't use it for.
Can I ask what velocity you shoot the 120 TTSX at?I shoot the 120 TTSX in the 7x57r, excellent choice and good availability

I love single shot break actions and even asked Merkel or Begara if they produced a .22lr version, sadly they said no 
I just wish I could be arsed to climb the career ladder, then I might consider buying one, but then the trade off with time in the office is a poor equation

K95's hmm ... I've had mine now for 18 years & it's been everywhere throughout the UK. Stags, hinds, calves, all species in the Highland's out on the hill, woodland, farmland.
It's a delight to carry with excellent accuracy & easy to shoot. I'll never part with it.
Whatever cartridge or calibre you feel is the best & most appropriate for you for you, spec it up & buy it.
Gregor at Macleod's in Tain helped me & at the time I bought it, he was one of very few people in the UK who knew all there was to know.

Thomson/Centre Arms make the Encore and Contender In .22lr and are far more affordable. They also take centre fire barrels.

I've been after one for a while now and Joe at Cat hill gun shop has one for sale with a ton of barrels, not sure how easy it would be to source or import a .22lr barrel though?

I’ve had a K95 stutzen in 308 and a Merkel K3 in 7x57R. Both are stunning. I actually found I was using the Merkel more and sold the Blaser. The reason? Couldn’t get a moderator on the stutzen and dislike wearing ear defenders. Other than that there was very little to chose between them. Blaser maybe a tiny bit better finished, Merkel still better than any other rifle I’ve handled though.
Both calibre are fine in terms of kick in these light rifles. I loaded light for cal copper bullets in the 308 and use 120g nosier BT in the Merkel. Both rifles have shortish barrels (19-20”). Don’t worry about rimless cartridges. 308 was just as easy to extract as 7x57R.
Absolutely no shortage of stopping power in either Cal. I shot a pretty fat 90kg fallow though the heart on Sunday at 150 yds and the 120gn stopped under the skin on the far side (retaining 70% of its mass and causing minimal meat damage). Perfect.

While they’re a pretty good product for the money I’ve never cared for the feel of a Contender/Encore platform in long gun form . My last try was a stainless Encore Pro Hunter with three barrels 338 Federal )which shot great) , 12 gauge rifled slug barrel and a 50 cal ML barrel . The shotgun and ML barrel were bought first , this was supposed to be my ultimate Sika setup for hunting the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge as it has plenty salt brackish water and is archery ML and shotgun only . The 338 barrel was for fun as I like the cartridge . But after acquiring and using a bit I didn’t care for the ML barrel and the shotgun barrel was a brute to keep scope mounts tight even with medium loctite.

The 6.5x65R RWS is a nice round to fire and is my ‘go to’ for reds. Downside is that the ammunition is rare as hen’s teeth (took me 4 months on order). Luckily managed to find some dies in the States, so not a problem any more.
Still deliberating on this one. Dare I say it, the 6.5 creed actually ticks all the boxes in terms or recoil, factory ammo, reloading component availability and performance!
I’m determined to try get to Hungary and the likes later in life. The 6.5 creed meets the min energy requirements at 100m for all species in Hungary with lead and non-toxic factory ammo. It seems as though factory 7x57r and 6.5x55 don’t from the ammo I’ve researched.

I have my 2nd Contender stainless frame & a good trigger all are 14" barrels (.17Rem, .22Lr, 6.5JDJ, .357Mag, .357Rem Mag, .35Rem) pistol grip & rifle stock, the SSK 6.5JDJ is a 100m 1 holer. My first Contender blued frame version was stolen by the UK Government back in 1997 as it came in from France in 1989 as a .22lr pistol.

A mention of the 6,5x57 r and 6.5x65 rws, - Nice! i'd be happy to just have one of those tbh, - i'd probably chose which after seeing what the felt recoil is like and considering where i'd be hunting the most.
As for the thread starter what is his hunting enviroment? is he going to be travelling with it?? Because as awesome as the 6,5 calibers can be, some places in europe ask for a minimum of 7mm for reds i think. They'll often accept the 270 as well, i believe.
If he wants a very short barrel length, then perhaps going for powder capacity like the 7x57 if not a 308 might be best suited? But i'll leave that consideration to be aswered by the much more experienced reloaders on here.
In short, if he is going very short barrel to allow for the surpressor, he wants to travel with it and he isnt going to reload i' suggest the 308. If he is going to reload the 7x57 or 7x57 r would also be fine sugggestions.
