Why not Redmist the japs done it for years and they supply the most reliable cars in the world.Improving on what is already there is how we get beter and cheaper.

Simply becuase its a rip off copy - reverse engineered to look like the real thing.

The Atlas is a superb bipod that the owners spend a fortune developing, investing their own money into a first class product.

Now simply taken apart and copied using substandard material for pence.


However, I do agree with Offroad Garys comment, the type of person who buys cheap rip off copies wouldn't probably buy the real thing anyway, so sales wont be affected.


Buy something cheap rarely becomes the "deal" it first seemed, coz it breaks, fails, cant get spares, no dealer back up, etc etc

Sorry, I just don't "do" plagiarised copies and fail to understand the logic of buying a substandard product either.

I do. I can't afford to pay for stalking at £75 a bash, so a bipod at stupid money is...stupid.

And yet here I am. I own Harris , and a Versapod, yet bought a copy Versapod and prefer it, explain that one.

I wonder how the "Atras" would fair on the underside of 15lb+ sniper/tactical rifle system, if pushed hard (pardon the pun as the atlas works best loaded), certainly my "genuine"has been put through some fair punishment and never missed a beat. I wouldnt have confidence in the copy.

In theory gary it should be a poor copy but is it, I agree with your comment on last page, I too wouldnt buy one as I think they are ridiculous money and could be sold at half the money and still make a good profit, another case of rip off britain grrrr

i really struggle with that? Why rip off britain? Are they much cheaper elsewhere?
I chose the atlas for my AI because its rock solid, wont flick closed and has excellent adjustment/mobility, a harris simply will not perform in the same way. I use harris on my foxing and stalking rifles and would not use the atlas as its not as easy to deploy, although i do hunt with the AI, the atlas works well then as you can bear the whole weight of the rifle on the bipod and drag it around in the mud to get on multiple targets, same as in some of the comps i have been shooting in.

Each to their own, why spend many thousands on kit, wait hours for that shot or be it the win/loose shot in a comp and have it compromised by an inferior component.

No problem at all, infact i have two of the cheap Atlas never had any problems, i sold my AI pod as i never used it any more, also sold the Versapod for the money these are the Envis of the NV world

Ive never had loads of money to throw at shooting though I would have if I did,i like the ideaI of a no excuse set up, i didnt say I wouldn't like one but they are bloody expensive, am sure it would look sexy on my aics green stock , i didnt realise there was atlas copies

but it is not and was never meant to be a comparison to the actual atlas (of which I have never seen one close up).

But equally slagging something off as cheap crap that is not as good as the product it is based on without first hand experience has little value

This was cheap, it arrived next day, I am satisfied, and as pointed out it is made under license in china on behalf of Atlas and it does what it meant to.

Lots of options to get the same job done and 90% of people won't break a cheaper copy because they simply don't use it enough, in a way to test its boundaries or have a need to spend top dollar on something that is not essential.
I do have this one in my hand and I honestly can't see how I could break it under load.
Granted the fittings may degrade quicker than a £250 original but that I have £200 in my back pocket to buy four more of these before I get into the same price range

some people shoot Blasers, some are happy with battered parker hales or "no namers" with no value (many of which are direct copy of famous and originally designed actions)
some people need a Swarovski, some are happy with a scope designed for an air rifle (many of which rip off features from much more expensive brands)
some people only use Lapua brass, some pick whatever they can find up off the ground at the range

By the way I got that blaser! It was a good deal! But the stock is bloody horrible!
Happily I can do something about that!

It would appear that these hooky items are in fact licenced by atlas who has an agreement with the manufacturer to make these for the air rifle and air soft market. I wonder how diffrent they really are? would the Chinese maker really be buying lower grade metal and parts just to make some airsoft bipods????
