Hooky eBay Atlas bipod review

I recently wrapped up a bipod review of 10 different units from Atlas, VersaPod, Harris, CAA, Tango Down, Sinclair and one other that does not come to mind just yet. Of them the Atlas was far above the others overall. Here in the US. it sells for $279 full retail and according to the XE currancy converter that works out to a bit over 179 B-Pounds. The most expensive unit I reviewed was from VersaPod, the 300 Series Raptor Feet Pan/Tilt at $325 retail. I find that interesting since VersaPod started as a chinese copy of the Parker-Hale....

Sorry those are truly hideous
I agree the one I posted is too big but I struggle to understand how any of them are worth £20-40!!

given the topic and its relative price tag of £35-40 I am b@ggered if I am going to spend the same again on a non moving part

I now have some picatinny rail which cost me £5 for about 12"
a section is srcewed to the base of the tatty target stock I have and another piece was drilled and tapped for a transverse screw
mount over stud and put in screw.
rubber base provides stock protection

cost me 1/4 of my outlay on the whole strip

these cheap cast fittings being punted around for £20-40 is another rip off IMO!

The GG&G is nothing more than a peice of steel rail held in place by two screws. The screws replace the two studs found on a lot of stocks these days. GG&G even provides two sets of screws to ensure you have the right thread pitch. The thing fits close and is not at all clumbsy. The only thing I have proposed to them is to add cross-slots with Picatinney spacing. Hopefully they do this soon.

After 27 years in the Army, I discovered copies are just copies and never the bargain they appear. You may be able to tolerate a failure on weekends but it won't do when your life depends on it. But go ahead buy a copy, it only hurts the guys that develop good stuff....

I have done a bit of research on Bipods over the last year and since Harris copyrighted design license was over there has been an abundance of good quality bipods for a fraction of the cost , I personally use £20 sniper systems ones and they are pretty good , however I am going to be buying a longer set and my 9-13 inch ones are too short to get over heather ,.

Had them side by side and they're identical.
Just looked at picture and it looks identical to mine.... wish I'd saved my money. I am not bothered whether it is a looky likey or not, as long as it does the job and is legit. That said it still feels nice knowing I have the original

Precisely the point I'm trying to make.

Nothing at all to do with snobbery

About as as much as the dodgy Rolex' you can buy on the beach on holiday for a tenner hurts the pride of the Swiss watch making industry!

I'm looking for a cheap stud mounted bipod (as I don't want to be fitting rails etc) for my 10/22 any recommendations

I have the real atlas and the Hooky, the Hooky has an issue with the small pin holding the foot on, but the Atlas has a bearing holding the foot on. I have spent an hour or so looking for an extended foot off my atlas as the bearing doesn't hold, other than the clamp they both seam to me to do the same job, but the price is miles apart. your choice
