Hornady seating die problem. Neck inwards

Are you sure you have used the seating die in the correct chambering?
Looks like you have seated the bullets with a neck sizing die.

I'd suggest visiting a friend who reloads the same cartridge and ask him to make up a couple of dummy rounds with your brass and your bullets. I suspect the neck tension is excessive, but you need to work through all the options in a methodical manner.

Go back to basics, you've got your seating die set up wrong. Basically you're crimping the bullet tight in the neck of the case and then trying to seat it to depth resulting in concertinaing the case.
Back off on the crimping and just seat the bullet to depth then adjust the crimp.

that’s amazing I do it all the time when my lee neck sizer jams but never with a bullet amazing! Is it a crimp thing?

Haha. I'm sure I have the correct die. Got the hornady 2 set die kit

Tbf i probably better find someone who can walk me through.

Unwind the die and start again , look on youtube on setting up the seating die as your setup is crushing everything down , I would think you have it set to hit the shell plate on full stroke and the insert Seating stem a fair way down ? could be wrong but thats how I would start to fix the problem . BTW its but a very nice looking round you have designed .

Take all the alcohol and medication out of your reloading cabin. Unplug your TV, phone and laptop and have 24 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Read the manual. Have another crack.

I have produced some shockers but that is right up there with the best of them...:D

I agree. A good rest is all it needs, time has proven this theory is accurate 👍. Lol

I've been on it for the past 3 days reading and learning and probably am overloaded.

I've made another one since the post and I think I got it right.

The only thing i haven't found an answer for is if i should crimp these head at all or not ?

New question : do you wash your fired brass before putting through the full size/ deprime die ?

I've brushed inside and lubbed the outside, it goes in the die easy but very hard on the way out ? I think it's because the "powder residue"

I know some guys have a deprime die separate but I don't. Should I wash the brass with old prime in before putting through the size/deprime die ?

Are you lubing the inside of the neck?

Cleaning the cases before reloading isn't essential, you can reload dirty cases. However cleaning cases prior to reloading prevents abrasion of your dies from dirt and grit on the outside of the case.

Yes I've lubbed inside the neck. I thought after 10 it got a little easier. Is this normal or just maybe not enough lube there ?

I do not crimp mine for either target or hunting (other views are available).
At the risk of reigniting a well play out old thread - I do however, call the "pointy" bit a bullet - for that is what it is.
Glad you are getting to sort it out. If you do have a chum who reloads and can assist (social distancing), nothing beats a bit of 1-2-1 tuition.

What cartridge and what bullet?

I had problems like this when I started - using 143gr ELDX in 6.5 Creedmoor.

It turned out the seating stem was shaped in a way that didn’t accommodate the bullet properly, so it squished it.

I had to buy a specialist seating stem for the eldx bullets.

And then lockdown happened, and I ran out of time and haven’t had a chance to try again...
