How does someone qualify to be an AW

Just a matter of interest really. After signing up for DSC2 and being given the list of names of those qualified to witness a stalk, I wondered how you gain the qualification? Is is X amount of time served plus another training course, or similar?
Thanks In advance

You need to have 2 Approved Witnesses to recommend you. However I think DMQ are not taking on anymore applicants. At the time you had to attend a briefing before being accepted.

Quite a number have been removed or left the list as they never took a candidate out.

Thanks, I'm not looking to sign up was just curious :D I can imagine it would be quite a thankless task at times!!

Didn't they want the AW to pay for the pleasure of being one so several left.
I recall something of the sort being discussed on here. I seem to remember that AWs were being asked to pay a registration fee, which many thought unreasonable as in many cases they weren't charging for their services anyway.

There were many AW's who had never taken a client out, and some that were always coming up with an excuse. DMQ were going to charge to be an AW, but this was just a red herring I think. Many jumped ship, and this reduced the numbers. As far as I am aware they are not recruiting anymore AW's, but I stand to be corrected.

Some I know have still not taken a candidate out, and probably never will. I usually have about 4 to 8 candidates per year. Its now only one ICR, which I am personally not in favour of, but that's not my decision. But I find it enjoyable taking candidates, and many times they book for a trial run first to see if I think they are fully up to speed. Nothing wrong in that all, most are on the ball. However the final decision is up to the Assessor and internal verifier.

DMQ are still accepting new AW applicants I gather but the next course is not until March.

Its a joke.

They asked non active AWs to resign but then ask for new prospective AWs to attend a paid for course at locations and dates which are limited.
Huge bottleneck of DSC2 candidates with limited AWs and more importantly options to do the ICR.
Some people see this as a business but no AW is making money out of this, its an added value at best.
Something to bolt on to the provision of pid stalking at best.
A charitable gesture by non professionals at worst.

Reducing the number of stalks to 1 ICR to get more people to move from DSC1 to DSC2 and removing the trained hunter status from DSC1 forcing assessment centres to offer an additional LANTRA large game handling assessment is also a farce.

With other accredited qualifications in the mix the DMQ are not helping themselves promote this as THE path to take.

I can't believe that people are so stupid.
Of course you have to do a course to be a AWs now BASC are running DMQ. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY
