As title
I usually shoot .243 but got this in .223
A few questions
Best ammunition for foxes and accuracy
Also best place for custom.upgrades
Thank you
And merry Christmas

Obviously different calibre but my T3 22.250 really likes Norma 50gr V-Max……. the foxes definitely not so much!🤣

Conversely I tried running a batch of Federal Power Shok 55gr SP through it for roe & it chucked them everywhere - completely inconsistent group🫣

Be interesting to see if others have had same experience?

Would recommend and kalix technik cheek riser if your rifle doesn't already have one, makes a big difference especially with varying height scopes, night vision etc, and a steel lipped magazine

Steel lipped magazine from riflemags.co.uk.
The 223 is notorious for wearing them out in the t3 and t3x.
I shoot and reload 55gn vmax foxes hate them. I have a check raiser on my factory stock, a must if your using NV/thermal

TTSX 50 grain or the same in Hornady CX . in copper Or Basically any lead that expands if you take that route ( all depends on the rifle you get and its twist ) I still think lead in the smaller calibres will fade away over time

The best thing you can do is buy a range of what factory ammo is available locally to you and try it - settling on something that works and that you can secure a reliable supply of.

If you reload - different story. Again, you’ll need to tinker to find something your T3 likes.

I have a T3 (albeit in .308) and got it improved when I was working in the US. The T3x already has many of the upgrades I had to buy. But here goes:

All from Mountain Tactical / Tikka Performance.

Improved bottom metal
Metal mag to fit the above
Limbsaver recoil pad (T3x version is adequate).
Metal bolt release catch
Stainless steel recoil lug (T3x version is SS).
Metal bolt cap and improved spring (T3x version is metal - adequate).

All money well spent. MT will ship the UK.

I put mine in an MDT field stock, and I am extremely happy with the result for the dollar spent. They use AICS mags, so you get over the problem of the $hite Tikka mags.
Reload and get cloverleaf groups.

Tikka T3X 1:12 Roe deer i use Sako 55g gamepoint SP extremely accurate.
Varmint rounds Sako Gamepoint Varmint 50g I find these ridiculously accurate and great for foxes and crows.

Firstly well done on buying a good working rifle. It will give you many hours of accurate reliable shooting. I’ve had many tikkas over the years… shot them out and moved on to the next one…. Joys of a 22250! I’ve never had one that didn’t like Hornady varmint express…. As for customising it and making it your own…. I’m a GRS bifrost fan in synthetic or a laminate sporter. They are a love hate thing but work well for me.

Until you have tried a couple of different makes you won't know what your rifle likes as weight of bullet anything will kill foxes it's about shot placement

Mine much prefers sako game head to superperformance but just buy a couple of boxes of what you can find locally and try

Lead in the smaller calibres was specifically exempt from the ban.
Yeah i get that , i am not thinking lead will be re-appraised - But will manufacturers carry on making lead bullets ie running the lines , when folks are being pressed for lead free only at the Game dealers and other customers ? How will other nations globally ? Will Starmer do it to us just for spite because can at this particular window of time. Other European nations putting pressure on regards exports ( remember most of our venison goes to export )
Personally i have been using copper in the main part because much of the land i stalk on have gone to non-Tox only . Market forces are perhaps might prove more powerful than than parliament here in the uk?
