Just how good is the .260

i am not really familiar with all these different calibers, not sure what the diff is between 6.5 creedmore and the 260,its the high bc that makes it so good in a compact cartridge, the extra powder probaly little gain on velocity and extra strain on the brass, keep us up to date on how it shoots, atb swarovski

The 6.5 Creedmore is actually a smaller cartridge case, capacity wise. It has a longer neck than the 260 and a 30-degree shoulder instead of 20-degrees in the 260. The speeds on the Creedmore and the 260 are about identical but the long neck is more suitable to accurate shooting, I'm told. My partner says that the Creedmore is what the 260 should have been. I have seen some 700 yard groups on-line that were shot with AR-10 platformed guns from a bipod. Impressive with 140 grain A-Max.~Muir

Like Muir alluded to, the 6.5 Creedmoor is often referred to as "what the .260 should have been". Essentially its a hybrid of the 6.5x47Lapua and the .260. More case capacity than the Lapua, but retaining the 30* shoulder and long neck. It is shorter than the .260Rem, but (until Lapua made .260 brass) offered higher quality brass (Hornady custom) and uses a large rifle primer (verus the sometimes problematic small rifle primered Lapua in commercial/factory rifles) . Ballistically, all three are pretty close, with the nod going to the Lapua and Creedmoor for use in SR-25/LR-308's (which is what both were intended originally to do).
