Kipplauf advice- K95/ K3&4 etc?

I appreciate it’s not a single shot, but I use a mannlicher stutzen in .243 for summer bucks and the odd woodland stalk with open sights in the winter when you can see clearly. They can be picked up pretty cheap and are an absolute joy to carry and shoot, very well balanced and light. Very quick for a follow up shot too, without a doubt the smoothest action I’ve ever operated, the bolt drops and locks while holding the trigger and hanging the rifle on an angle.

Were this the case, there’d be a whole lot of aggrieved Blaser, Sauer and other miscellaneous marque owners with problems[ etc.]
Which, to go back to the original observation, is why the Blaser's screw heads don't align. They are evenly tightened, but are just standard screws picked from of a bin on the assembly bench, and not hand- timed gunmaker's screws.

Re. the OPs concerns about the availability of 7x57R. I shoot a drilling in that chambering, and ammo isn't hard to get. Also, you needn't worry about it being on the shelf if you order 200 rounds or so to begin with. This will free you from ammo worries for as many years/deer as it takes to work down to 40 rounds, at which point you can order some more.

Okay, so the Blaser bug steered me into a K95 Kipplauf, slowly but surely, random thought by random thought. I ended up at my LGS and landing a new and gorgeous K95 Luxus (Roe/Red deer variant), grade six walnut with Blaser super finish and ebony tip, chambered in 308Win with 600mm barrel and open sights.
Yes I have an R8 Success that has 22-250, 6.5x55, 30-06 and 9.3x62 barrels, and yes that was going to be my last rifle BUT…. I had convinced myself and wanted a K95 in either a 6.5x57R or 7x57R however, this one was a special order with select timber that was cancelled so I got it $4K under current RRP, plus the rimmed brass is hard to come by in Aussie. that's my story and I am sticking with that….
Waiting for my permit to acquire to come through is killing me, the excitement is real people, real I tell you.
Photos to come
Cheers
John

I’m now in the process of ordering a K95 in 30-06; Luxus with red and roe. Is the Blaser scope worth the extra over a Swarovski just to have illumination come on automatically? I’m thinking z8i 1.7-13.3 might be the best balance for the rifle. Rail mounted of course

Will kick like a mule. Mines 6.5 Swedish, perfect caliber for that rifle. Fixed 6x42 habicht as it’s my woodland rifle. I bought the kipplauf as a pure hunting rifle, I didn’t want to chew on changing mag and adjusting focus or twiddling turrets. They’re incredibly light rifles, something to consider before choosing your caliber.

As above, it will kick like a mule.
Not a problem usually when you hunt, but flinch inducing at the range and the stock isn’t optimal for target work

I have the same z8 on my kipplauf - perfect scope for it in my opinion

I’ve always had a swarofski 8x50 on my k95 but my fading old eyes I’ve now put on a illumination swarofski 3x12 56 abit over kill but it was cheaper s/h and in great condition but it does look to big on her and it has helped me at low light if I could afford one I’d go for the z8i driven type small and would look great to me

I also agree I’ve shot a 308 win k95 demo before I ordered my k95 it did kick and whip I went with a 243 which had served me well but there some great calibres out there which are not that hard on your shoulder I would have liked to have tried afew before I ordered

I'm not recoil shy so not too concerned about that. I'll be running factory ammo so will zero, check drops and go.
It’s not just recoil, it’s a light rifle with a poorly designed stock and a trigger that cannot be user adjusted and is routinely set both way too light and with more back lash than a Conservative Party agm. I just could not shoot it consistently, I could have overcome any of the individual problems but not them all. Regardless what the ads say, the K95 is not set up for consistent long range accuracy.
Have a look at the videos from that Norwegian chap who does the long range shooting. He got a k95 in 6.5x55, he modified it extensively to get it to perform and still regards it as a challenge to use successfully compared to his R8.
Blaser advertise the K95 as an elite rifle for the expert marksman set up by their in house experts to perform at the highest level.
Since the user cannot adjust the factory settings, you need to be pretty certain that those factory settings suit you before you part with your cash.
