Large capacity gun cabinet

But what I don't understand is how tight, in particular the Bratton Sound cabinets are. With modern three Turret Scopes on Rifles there is very little room. And even for shotguns, they are not even spaced well enough for side - by- sides. I've ended up have to put one rifle, one shotgun, one rifle etc.

I've got a 6-8 gun deep, rifle safe from Brattonsound. It's got 2 scoped rifles in there and will take a 3rd no problem. That's it though - unless you want to play rifle / shotgun jenga getting them out each time.

Ive got 3 safes with 5 "slots"in each . Ive got 3 scoped rifles 1 unscoped and 2 shotguns in them. Ive got room for maybe one more scoped rifle or 2 unscoped.so real life capacity is about 50%

Yeah it boils my **** when I read ‘14 gun safe’ or ‘7 gun safe’
my guns are certainly not contortionists and no way would you get the advertised number inside them.
over the years I just kept adding cabinets as and when.
however, a couple of years ago I had a chat with the FEO with regards to turning the room into a gun safe, what I was asked to provide in way of security wasnt actually as bad as I expected, Black the window out (tint or spray paint) bars over the window and a good steel door, racks on the wall with trigger locks and a cable/rod through them all, never done it as I already had the cabinets and decided I prefer them out of sight anyway.
However, recently I’ve been wanting to add another cabinet, so if anyone has anything large let me know 👍

I did wonder about making the gunroom as suggested, then building my own full wall size cabinet so I didn’t have multiple keys to keep confusing myself.

suggestions on this idea ?

have a look on eBay i bought an old Chubb safe weighs over a ton dont know how many guns it will hold (could fit a couple of red's in it) :) really well built and a fraction of the cost of advertised large safes

regards b.b

Try trophy safes imported by Raytrade sodding amazing. Same as the browning ones (as they make them for browning) without the browning livery and cost

A while back I acquired 2 x 24-gun Buffalo River cabinets, and keep one for rifles/moderators/optics and the other for shotguns/rifle ammo/bolts. I'd estimate the shotgun capacity as about 18 and the rifle capacity as about 14, but there's a good amount of incidental space for other bits and bobs. The combination locks are a bit battery-hungry and occasionally temperamental, and the safes can't boast the fire-retarding capability of more expensive equivalents, but overall I'm happy with them. Access is much quicker, and the guns much less prone to "safe rash" than with my previous series of small, single-figure safes. Total cost was about £1,300. If buying again today, I'd probably look for something a bit more up-market, even though I probably don't actually need more quality than the Buffalo Rivers already offer.

On the rifle side I recently got some extended foam inserts (from Brattonsound) that support big scoped rifles better than the standard racks. Also useful are the velcro-tipped rods (from Brownells) that you drop in from the muzzle end and then lift and stick to the carpeted "ceiling" of the cabinet, since they let you store rifles in the centre of the space, -or for really short ones, under the shelves- as well as at the sides. Another benefit of the extra space in the larger cabinets is that there's room to put in motion-sensor-activated LED strip lights, which make it much easier to see what you're doing and to find what you're looking for.

This is my issue with high capacity safes, to get the guns out you potentially need to empty it to get to the one at the back.

Has anyone gone down the route of a gun room? May be a better option to line a cupboard with steel plate (the gun cabinets aren’t that thick!) and put a steel lined door on....

often wondered if I’d get away with this if you could prove it exceeded the BS ones.

These are imported by raytrade. So try Clint at dauntsey guns or Emmett and stone in Marlow because of the size and weight I think delivery is about £45.00 on a pallet

If you have any issues I know the director of raytrade really well and I know he has some in stock so let me know if your struggling and I will help sort it for you

cheers Steve
