Can you not shoot lead core bullets there? How big are your deer? I shoot a 243 in Tennessee, the deer average size is 75 to 150 pounds, last year I shot a total of 5. 4 out of 5 dropped in there tracks, closest was 125 yards, farthest as 325 yards. I shoot an 85 grain Speer boat tail soft point at just over 3300 fps. 4 were double lunged and the one that did go 20 feet I hit in between his heart and lungs. No meat damage. Most hunters that have to follow deer even after a well placed shot shoot Hard heavy jacketed slow bullets that do not have the explosive impact when they hit, they will mushroom but the shock and explosion is not there. SPEED also makes any bullet more deadly, the faster you push a bullet the more deadly. Deer are soft thin skinned animals you do not need the heavy hard jacketed bullets. Taylor your ammo to hunt with not to punch paper or smack steel. Try lighter faster bullets, make the shot and you will do a lot less tracking. Shoot straight out there……p-w
