Lead update.

Hello, All this talk on Lead shot cartridges , I have never heard anyone mention lead water pipes and people dying from lead poison, i have changed 100s of lead service pipes to plastic and although banned in the 1970s there must still be 1000s of homes in uk still have this type of water pipe,

Mine for one...

Nope, when they ban pesticides and herbicides first. They do far more harm than any metal lead. Otherwise they'd stop using it on roofs. You can add tobacco to that list too.
Untill then it's an attack on shooting, encouraged by the gluttony of large commercial shoots which is where the real issue is!
I’d agree on the large commercial shoots, they are untenable in all aspects. And I want more controls on parasiticides, such as no online/tele sales.
And you are sort of right that this is an attack on shooting, because too many are refusing to accept a needed change

I have never heard of anyone dying of lead poisoning from lead pipes and water companies give advice about the way to minimise the risks of heightened lead levels in your water depending on your pipes and water PH level. For example:

Lead was historically used a lot in petrol, paint and water pipes, but in 1970 the government banned the use of lead in water pipes. This decision was made due to evidence that exposure over a period of time can have health implications, with the greatest risk being to children under six and pregnant women.

No - they are not untenable in all aspects

No - they are not untenable in all aspects
Indeed, surely it is more about who is in charge of the shoot than the size of the shoot as to whether the code of good shooting practice is being followed - and if it is, then that is a sustainably managed shoot. As has been written about in myriad articles on this topic in the sporting press, some shoots rip up the rule book and most shoots are exemplars on the conservation front.

Two articles giving food for thought.

@Conor O'Gorman have a look at the p53 protein which suppresses cancerous mutations and the effect of lead on its function. Many people seem to be unable to draw the link between lead pollution in soils, water, it being ingested and the long term effects of health. The effects are not immediate, but compounded over time.

What do you class as a large commercial shoot ?
How do you think no phone or online sales will control parasiticides ? - sounds a bit like how no online sales is going to solve knife crime ?

And now ‘eat wild’ a zombie business being propped up by BASC members, £500k recipe website

Right. Here we are.

Lord! £ 1/4 Million. Interest free.

And has BASC had to, itself borrow that money and if so pay interest on it?

And was there ever a vote from the general membership about this money?

And as many name changes, so far, as Farage's UKIP!
