Left booking too late for the pre DSC1 course.

Sorry for hijacking the thread slightly, but as mentioned previously I allam taking my DSC 1 in October.
I plan to buy an 'official' roe target from the BDS for practice, but can anyone tell me if the 'kill zones' are still marked on the target? I seem to recall they are just white circles on the black silhouette??
Thanks
Trickyd

Hijack all you want mate. It’s all good stuff and answers questions I haven’t thought to ask. 👍

Not at all. Read up and get some shooting in somewhere.

Find, and join, a local full bore club. You’ll learn a lot, I certainly did. (Though my club is called the Hunters NRPC so most members hunt 😂)
I joined a full bore clubs little while ago, mainly because I’m keen on black powder but it’s definitely a place to hone my rifle skills. The only issue is, like anyone without an FAC, I’m reliant on a sponsor being on site with a gun they’re willing to lend.
I looked up the Hunters club you mentioned. Looks pretty good! I see it’s through the airgun BBS. For some reason I couldn’t get past the registration last year page so gave up on it.

As in the the registration for the forum?

We need to update the website really, we started out as the BBS full bore club (before my time) but kept having issues with FEOs (including mine) thinking it was an airsoft forum so we renamed the club.

Yep. I think it was/is due to my email being an @gmail account. There’s a rule somewhere about the email address being traceable but I can’t use my works email as they block anything to do with guns.

I used DSCtraining.org. I was bloody brilliant, helped me a great deal. A small price to pay.

Hi , yes it’s marked but very faintly so if you’re stood in front of target you can see if you’re in the circle but circle won’t shoe for shooting test ,

I did a pre dsc1 course and yes it was helpful as I had limited centre fire experience but no it’s not necessary , it’s mostly covering the shooting side , I’d never shot off sticks , my dsc1 course was two shots prone at 100 m , two shots off sticks at 70 m then two humane shots at 20 m
I ordered a cheap set of sticks and practised with an air rifle , bought the test silhouette from bds and used that , of course shots weren’t the same but helped in seeing the “ kill zone “ off the sticks , basc do a firearms awareness course see if there’s one of those near you it’s very similar but with more shooting , good luck

I sat the 4 day DSC1 this week. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Met some cracking people and learnt an awful lot along the way.

No disadvantage. I sat mine with no stalking or rifle experience whatsoever. If you’re interested in the subject matter then you’ll absorb the information readily.
