Legalities of shooting cattle ?

We seem to have three on us, all together and they are reasonably quiet.
Apparently there are two others that have split up, wild as can be and no idea where they are.

All I can say is that if I had to shoot every beast I had on the moor that proved difficult to catch I'd give up.

Oh and you need "The firearms and ammunition shall be used also in connection with the humane killing of animals" to cover yourself for every eventuality.

+1 But some counties take a very long route to get to this obvious condition.

Get at it man and if you keep to head shots at no more than 100 yards the wee ,22 Hornet is just fine:

Well he wants to give up farming if that is the level of his stockman ship.

Chasing the the round is not the answer. You leave the food to get the used to being in an area and move them quietly from there.

If they are that wild they are not going to go though a race for testing.

Your friend end needs his backside kicking and you need to find a more suitable pastime, that doesn't involve firearms.

its all all sorted now, Nick and I have been for a curry and a few beers and then went out with the lamp and cattle are sorted. They were a bit heavy in game bag and Nick didn't believe me that my PCP would do the job but a tin a pellets later it was sorted.

After a few days of escapeing they become wild very quickly by being harried into makeshift corrals etc, and all attemps to drive them fail, after some time they will disappear into cover or at the sight of people approaching them, go large arable fields and watch people approaching, where it would be impossible to get them off if their shot without doing damage to crops, the police will kick off as they become a menace to road users, head shooting over a certain age is not allowed as the complete hide and intact head has to be sent away for tests and their history notated. Some of you have no idea of what's involved or how hard it is to without collateral damage. The farmer will be liable for any RTAs, any damage incurred off his land, and ultimately will not be able to do anything with the carcase once put done. deerwarden.
