Lever action threading for mod

Hi all, looking at getting a 30-30 lever action for stalking, but keep coming up against the issue of not many of them are threaded for a sound moderator.
I need a mod on the land I shoot, so it’s a non negotiable. I am looking at either a Winchester 1984 or Mossberg 464 lever action in 30-30 calibre, barrel needs to be 20” ideally so I can get it large deer legal.
Question for all of the gun smiths out there is if / how much this would cost? I get it’s an involved job that prob needs the magazine tube shortening plus front sight removing among other things, so I get it’s not a 10 min job.
Assuming this is all correct has anyone successfully done this before on either the Winchester or the mossberg? If so could you post photos etc
Thanks in advance!

Many moons ago we cut my Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited to 16" or so and threaded it (yes yes, it's sacrilege...)

It was basically getting the barrel off, cutting it and threading, cutting new dovetails for front sight and mag tube attachment.

I wanted to keep the front sight, for occasions I use it w/o moderator. I guess there might be different ways of attaching the magazine tube, in Marlin (45 Colt) it was a dovetail on the underside of barrel and piece that fits there. AFAIK this kind of attachment is not ideal for high recoil / high bullet weight rifles, so some "real size" designs might have another approach.

The Winchester 94 has it's magazine end cap screw enter the barrel wall. The hole would need relocating.
If you have to have a moderator, which is sad, maybe a Winchester 94 is not the rifle.

Yeah I definitely do, it’s a condition of the ground I can shoot on so stuck with it.
Been reading about the Henry model X as it comes pre threaded but it’s 12-18 month wait for a special order! Patience has never been my strong suit but think it’s going to have to be

Looks to be a good rifle. I'm glad you are using 30-30. It's a wonderful round.

All the new Marlins come threaded now I think, and the rusher made ones are apparently the best they have ever been quality wise… but again you may have to be patient. I did see an 1895 laminate at the stalking show at the weekend though so they are about.
