Lightweight 22cf

I shot a .22 ARC last weekend with a 80gr Berger. It felt very similar to my 6mmbr. Nice stubby case. But getting compliments is a pain.

The 22-250 is simple and factory ammunition is always a bonus should there be a requirement. Especially if it’s your only rifle.

Go light rifle, whichever takes your fancy.
223 would be a good choice for light recoil....no need for a moderator then in my opinion.
Home loading gives you the choice to fine tune the load for recoil too.
I've a friend with a 308.
Shoots Nosler 150gr.
Vit N140 , the lowland load I'd 2 grain lighter than the highland load too lol.

If light is the objective maybe a Barrett Fieldcraft like mine in 308, they also do a 22-250 if you can find one.

Balances lovely with a Swarovski Habicht 3-12 and a DPT moderator mod with stainless baffle and muzzle brake.

Fantastic little thing.

I have a Steyr Mannlicher SL in .222, DT with a cut down barrel to I think 20". Away at the moment so can't tell you the exact weight but it is as light as a feather - I think it is probably about 5 1/2lb with scope bases. I could do with room in the cabinet and it'd be cheap if you are interested?

My Tikka T3 is in .222 with a 20 inch barrel. It is in a supervarmint green/black stock, with a standard Tikka picatinny rail; on which I've put a Hik Alpex Lite. DPT mod completes the package.

It makes a nice lighter weight Munty rifle shooting 50 grain TTSX with the tips pulled; and 50 grain Vmax for Foxing.

My Foxing is usually within 160 yards so the Lite saves a pound or so in weight compared to it's bigger brother.

I've got a GRS Fenris on the way for it too - not sure if it will lighten though....

T3 with 22" sporter 1/8 twist 22-250 which can be loaded to be supersonic at 1100m. Covers longer range fox over valleys with less wind drift. Lightweight carbon Evolution stock. The same stock can take my 20" 1/8 223 T3 Lite or my 308 CTR. Overall the 223 with 1/8 /68gr match bullets covers most foxing situations, 2"shorter barrel saves a tiny bit of weight.
