Lightweight foxing rifle. Looking for ideas.

I’m using a T3 Lite in .22-250. Light, functional & great for foxes - as per brief. Butt plate spacers are apparently available but heard that they aren’t cheap!

I am left handed. So it either has to be bolt on the left or single shot (true ambidextrous) no, I do not want to shoot a rh rifle, let’s not go there.
I was thinking T3 tikka, cos I had one before, someone suggested a Begarra B13 which interested me. Nice and lightweight.

Why not build a custom 22-250 with a 1-8 twist?
It can be spec'd to your parameters, and will run a .308 bolt face so in theory can be swapped out easy enough, and if you feel the urge to change your calibre ( be it creedmoor or 308 etc), it's just a straight tube swap.
Ultimately, it an good long term investment!

Discontinued years ago.
I was fortunate to find one, so there might be a used example.

I haven’t really looked for years I have shot from my right shoulder. However I did take a passing interest when browsing the gun shops.
You would think some of those rifles from twenty years ago etc would still be around. Just because they aren’t listed with new rifles doesn’t mean they are not out there.

I use a Howa 1500 SA in .204 and it is an amazing fox round….but I wanted a heavy rifle and my goodness it is heavy!
Next time I will go for. Tikka T3x lite and probably a .223 or .243 so it can cross over as required. I personally didn’t like the 22-250, all a bit too shouty for my liking.
IMO, With the new day/night and thermal scopes it is definitely an advantage to be able take both fox and deer rather than having to take 2 rifles.

It would be really nice if Howa offered LH actions, but AFAIK they don't.

Thompson 223. Not sure about that though. It is nee but American,
Sauer 202 In 223. That ain’t happening at that price.
22.250 doesn’t interest me as I have the 243.
so I would be leaning towards the CZ or the Tika.

I've only ever bought new, but these would be my choice in used Lefthand with your budget, pending some pics.
The Tikka T3 .222 Hunter is a a fairly early model, so may not be factory screwcut if this matters.
The CZ527 will be the American 22" in wood, as in post #26, which is the only LH model.
From the serial number 'A' this CZ is probably year 2007 when they were first made, so '07' should be stamped on the action. Again, some weren't threaded.
As there's 2lbs difference between the two rifle action sizes I wouldn't pick the T3, unless there were signs that the CZ had done a lot more work. One of my worries is that a lot of .223's have been hammered. As there's no chance of a CZ Lefthand within Europe, you could buy a new T3X for about £1200.
Both CZ and Tikka have dropped the .204 & .222, so it's .223 or nothing, which goes for any other make apart from the BA13 ss.
I always thought the American series were nice looking. I have them in Hornet, 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel. Gave the American Varmint 204 to the girlfriend and have the 6.5 Grendel American Varmint in the safe. ~Muir
