Kind of a sidetrack, but one reason new members resurrect old threads is that you're new to the forum and try to find interesting posts with search. It's also funny that after there's one reply to a thread dating back 2-3 years, other members ignore the dates also and start posting.

Anyway if you're concerned about the classifieds, just check the posts made by the new member. I don't regard the post limit as a punishment to new members but as a tool to get a bit of a feel what kind of person you're dealing with.

I must be getting close too, not that I have anything to sell. There is another member doing a good job of this at the moment... wonder what he has to sell?
