Medical reports

A friend is having problems getting his doctor to sign his medical report for his SGC renewal.

Has anyone on here had recent dealings with one of the setups offering this service that they would recommend? If so, what sort of costs are involved?

I recently did mine with my gp and it was a nightmare, questions were answered wrong and the police refused to use it ,after four weeks I finally got it filled in correctly and it sailed through, it cost 80 pound. My son used medicert after my experience and it was 70 pound but took six weeks to complete it but I believe most of the delay was due to my gp not sending them his records.

My Docs have flat refused to touch it, so will be going through Medcert or similar for my renewal too

I've moved away now, but the GPs in Brent never used to cause any difficulties. I think some of them have retired /moved on, but I'd always prefer to move my business away from the sort of idiot doctor who'd make difficulty over this and register with a different GP. GPs get paid for having you on their lists, and if you're displeased that money might be happier elsewhere.

Old Keeper,
I recently used ShootCert during a renewal & I can recommend them.

It wasn’t as plain sailing as I’d hoped, (due to my local practice - not ShootCert). I discovered that my practice needed not only the expected legal consent form signing (to give sight of my records to another GP) but also required an additional (irrelevant) form of their own design completing. This could have caused quite a delay if I’d not decided to drop the ShootCert letter & legal consent form in by hand at the practice & so discovered the need for the extra ‘paperwork’. Additionally it was made plain to me that the practice considered my request low priority.

The final snag was, to my amazement the practice medical records were actually administered (off site) by a third party ‘specialist’ company & it was they who’d send a copy of my records to ShootCert. The end result was it took 5 - 6 weeks for ShootCert to receive my records. To their credit ShootCert sent me their letter within a couple of hours of them receiving my records. Also worth a ‘tip of the hat’ were Cheshire Constabulary who did my renewal in a shorter period than any of us would have preferred due to these medical record related delays.

If your friend goes with ShootCert or MedCert my advice would be to check that their medical practice doesn’t need a more information or forms signed than at ShootCert provide.

I had to " speak out " whilst gritting my teeth.
Same low priority rubbish, I'm wtf taking £80; then telling me it's 6 months.
Cancel the cheque I'm going online suddenly it took 3 days.
All my doctors care about 💰💰
