MEDICAL VERIFICATION

Contacted my GP surgery today and was informed that a fee of £110 would be charged for a medical verification , in connection with my firearm renewal application.
It would be interesting to see the variations in fees being quoted to members , as this is now a mandatory requirement and at some stage
every firearm /shotgun holder will have to go through this procedure.
I notice that BASC is offering a medical panel service, has any member used this service.

A few months back I paid £40 for my renewal. To be fair I was content to pay as the surgery wasn’t even open due to Covid.
My good friend is an FEO and tells me that one doctor informed an applicant that the fee would be £1100!!!
The applicant phoned my friend in a panic and was referred to Med Cert who charged around £60 and he was granted his certificate.

I’ve went through MedCert which are affiliated with BASC . The fee was £60, my GP took forever to reply/comply with the request for my records and it’s now in MedCerts possession for processing and it’s dragging on .

I paid £21 the other week to my GP.
Med Cert are ok from what I hear.... However they rely on your files being sent in a timely manner by your GP and some GPs aren't doing this from what I hear from friends.

Yup that’s what has happened to me my GP was over two weeks past the legal cut off time for responding to MedCert .

Just doing renewal at the moment. My Doc charged £90. Surgey is in rural South Warwickshire.

At least it was quick and he was friendly and phoned me up to ask exactly what I needed and he seemed to actually take an interest. Still seemed a bit high though but I suppose over 5yrs it is nothing.
