Crikey! You will be far harder on boots than me I know!

Hope all well with you....

Ought to give HIS a chance to sort the issue?

Mine are onto year there doing great waterproof and very little peeling dovre extreme. Lots of tough work

I have several pairs of meindl boots - quite a few through work. Generally no problems-great boots. Had worn one pair every day for 9 months.

I had one pair though over 20 years ago for hillwalking and the glue came away from welt. Immediate refund, no questions asked. Sometimes mistakes happen-if they fix replace or repair it wouldnt put me off.

Which model please?
First pair were the special forces gtx. Still going strong after 7 seasons. Toes don't have the rubber cover though. 2 Nd pair, Yatra gtx high leg. Still fine after 5 seasons. Got them from game and country in Selkirk with an SGA discount.

I was looking for new boots last December & Meindl were my first choice as I'd had a pair of Burmas which I had been very happy with. However, around that time, there was a thread on here about boots & there were quite a few bad reports about Meindl - apparently they have changed their manufacturer.

Due to the negative reports, I ended up buying Lowa from Monarch Country Products (fantastic customer service from Rob). So far the Lowas are good & very comfortable, but my usage is recreational, unlike Caberslash, so time will tell how they will last.

I recently sent returned a pair of Meindl boots as the welt on one of the boots had started to detach and leak after 11 months.

The response from Meindl apparently is that they have been worn too often and they will not honour the warranty.

I've had a pair of Meindl Dovres for about 8 years. Don't get a huge lot of use and are still fine.
Wonder if quality control has dropped off during more recent years?

The ones I bought are SO comfortable, but started leaking, after a while. I bought a second pair, but they started leaking quite soon afterwards.

Now used in the summer, but I won't buy another pair.

Too many companies are cutting corners, and subbing the work out to countries with cheap labour, and the quality is diving.

I had a pair of Sorrel snow boots, they were superb. I finally wore them out, and replaced them with the same model. They were cr*p.

First ones were made in Canada, second, some country in the far east !

That model has a great reputation, but I have had Burmas etc in the past, lasted for years, but then had 2 pairs both fail within 18 months of average use, leaks in eyelets, but mainly Gortex failing.
I do wonder if there are issues with the manufacturing of the Goretex as I believe production of Goretex switched to China?
Either way Meindl customer service has gone down hill recently, it used to be brilliant.
Cheers
Richard

take them straight back to H.I.S should be under warranty or get a refund.my next pair will be diotto heard good reports from them.

Hi all, quick update, got a replacement pair, but after one week of use in the field:

I have no time to bugger around with returning them (took more than two weeks to get the replacement pair) so I will be looking elsewhere next year.

Would advise others to do the same, stay away from Meindl Dourve Extreme

i sent two pairs of the boots back for stitching problem in the end got my money back from that i purchased a pair of mendel walking shoes/ low boot and a pair of Ridgeline med ankle boots to date both are working out to be pretty good - really happy with them
