Hi

any recommendations for a decent electric mincer?. Something that doesn’t keep clogging up

The cheapest ones will clog with the silver skin over the shoulders etc plus sinews and other connective tissues. Either trim it off, or Chuck it in the freezer for half an hour before mincing.

Had a cheapo for 10 years plus and yes it did the job but in contrast very poorly although we were none the wiser.

Decided to treat ourselves and buy the proper quiet tool for the job.
The lack of noise is unbelievable.
The lack of clogging is unreal..... what clogging?
The speed the machine processes at is impossible to keep up with...... quoted spec. is 250kg/hr.

Yes it was around £400 but worth every penny.

BUFFALO. @Rols

£70 versus £400 your choice?

I bought the buffalo this year, yes 350 ish but damn it’s so good, so quick, noise free to the extent I can mince while the kids are asleep. In the grand scheme of things it’s a cheap mincer by no means premium, but a huge step up from £70 eco mincers, and better quality mince from it.

If you keep the blades sharp they will manage the sinew's a little better, even big Hobarts will build up sinew around the blades even if they are sharp.
Funny i have just been looking on my history of purchases on Amazon, i bought a Buffalo in 2012 8 years ago it cost me £339.99. one of my better buys,

If you can afford similar, and intend to get some use out of it then it has to be a must buy, dont forget its not just for venison, cheap joints from the reduce isle in supermarkets can soon become burgers, sausages all sorts. And it will last far longer than the budget ones.

Half Freeze the meat - and always match your grinding plate and blade. Do not use the same knife with different plates. A powerful motor helps too. Mine is 1hp.

What do you mean not to use the same knife with different plates. Change knife with each new plate? Why?

The knife and plate rub right against each other. For best results, the knife and plate need mate as close together as possible. If you use different knife and plate which have not worn against each other before, they may not mate together as efficiently, and even wear the knife out prematurely.

I'm happy with my Luvele mincer that I picked up for £75 off eBay. I've used it for about 30 deer over the last year and it does a great job, not clogging at all. I do cut all the meat into 1-2" sized bits first. You don't have to spend a fortune if you aren't processing huge quantities. Mine has paid for itself already. (It is fairly noisy)

This is fair comment, the first mincer I bought was the Beem Panther from bushwear for under £100, it was very noisy (it’s a horrible noise I do not miss with the buffalo!!) but it didn’t miss a beat in nearly 9 years service doing probably 10-20 deer a year. I think I replaced the blade once as it had dulled but that was it.
I just wanted peace and quiet and speed so replaced when the time came with the buffalo and not looking back now. It’s a lot faster, you literally can’t feed it fast enough, and as said before way way quieter, but, it’s huge and bloody heavy, circa 20kg and would not be a permanent work top feature in most average sized kitchens. Mine lives in the garage when not in use.

also it takes huge pieces of meat so saves a lot of time not having to chop it all in to 1/2 inch pieces.

Whatever mincer you get make sure you properly crank the head up against the cutting plate, this is pretty much all I use the meat stomper for (A drop of food grade machine oil or vegetable oil on the plate will help with the friction). Also dice your meat up first, this will stop the silverskin you can’t be assed to trim clogging it up. Also helps put the mincer head in the fridge to get it nice and cold first.
