Mixing road/AT/MT tyres as a spare on same axle

Alright

Now I know u should never mix tyre types on the same axle.
And I know been a few threads similar but scanning throu them never mentioning anything about as a spare.

Would it be ok in an emergency if ur spare was different to the others?

Had a puncture on way home the night, got spare on ok and it's the same as the rest so no problems yet.

I do have some wheels off an old pick up which should fit but are fairly grippy tyres.
I never like travelling without a spare, I could chuck 1 in until I get a new tyre for an emergency ( working about 50 miles from home)
But no point in putting it in if its going to damage the motor.

Plus not sure if any tyre places near to where I'm working and I tend to buy them at same local place so have to wait till Sat now.

Cheers

If you have to use the spare, I would advise you to drive significantly slower than usual, and be especially careful with cornering.

I ended up with a dog’s dinner of different tyres on my Defender 90. I didn't think it mattered, because I only use it for pottering about locally, and launching a boat.
But I did have a couple of very bad skids when braking heavily.

I have now changed the whole set, and the difference in drive, ride, cornering and braking is really noticeable - even my wife says so!

If its the same size it will be okay just watch out breaking and cornering, especially since we can never predict the weather

If the spare dia is different for the rear end its a no go. If so swap a front for punctured one and put different dia on front

My crv has 18inch wheels as standard from
factory the spare is a 17 inch space saver again from factory.
Honda answer 18 inch wheels were only fitted on the EX model and the wheel well won't accommodate an 18 inch wheel hence
the 17 inch wheel supplied
Now isn't that smart.

I carry a tyre worm repair kit and air pump a hang over from the pick up days but its save us a few times .

Fine at slower speeds as space saver spares are often very , very different . Running on different tread across an axel is a no -no but fine to get you home or to a garage . Having
