2.Ok, how many mods have you had to get a 1-4-1 variation for in the last decade?
For me it’s 1.
My last one took a week I think. For a mod.Was going to say you are obviously not in Herts/Beds/Bucks - but then looked at your username! My last variation took 10 weeks to process.
Why can’t you buy ammo?2.
My current one has taken six weeks. Six weeks without buying ammo would be stretching it if I wasn't reloading, but I am and I'm just easing up on the rimfire.
Same here. Why can’t you buy ammo?
You didn’t send in your old licence did you? I never do.
My renewal is in and i will hold onto my ticket until the new one arrives, so I can continue to buy ammo up until it runs out and I go onto the obligatory extension.
interesting, kent police insist on the current certificate back before issuing the replacement. They state as part of the 1-4-1 process that on completion of the application the current certificate must be sent to them otherwise no variation. Why can’t you buy ammo?

Why not fill your ticket up before you renew?2.

I have never sent in my actual license when doing a 1-4-1. I take a photocopy and send that in.interesting, kent police insist on the current certificate back before issuing the replacement. You will have to be careful, as doing anything that is strictly not part of firearms law in conjunction with your license may get you chastised on here by the ‘anti-admin’ / ‘don’t be a pussy and tell them to f-off’ brigade!!interesting, kent police insist on the current certificate back before issuing the replacement. Norfolk also, I home load so not a problem, if you don’t, get a mortgage and fill you tickets up beforehandinteresting, kent police insist on the current certificate back before issuing the replacement. are you in kent? if you think about it, it’s logical to return your certificate first, as if you were a silly billy and already had an open slot to acquire a firearm, you could on receipt of the second certificate and on the same day visit two RFDs and use both certificates to acquire two firearms, when you are only legally allowed to acquire just the one.I have never sent in my actual license when doing a 1-4-1. I take a photocopy and send that in.
Not once have they ever insisted on the original.
Possession in this context I think can legally be seen as constructive possession (as opposed to actual possession), you hold a Certificate, but it is not actually on your person. To get fussy, as I understand it if you hold firearms you must be in possession of a valid matching FAC, so don't send it in. Send them a photocopy. I raised this with my Firearms Department and they said, strictly I was right.
David.
Your driving license at home is still in your possession, just like your locked up firearms at home are still in your possession, your firearms locked up at your RFD are not in your possession and neither is your FAC if you can't lay your hands on it at short notice.Possession in this context I think can legally be seen as constructive possession (as opposed to actual possession), you hold a Certificate, but it is not actually on your person.
A bit like possessing a driving licence, but it is at home - you can still drive.
See my post above, fill your bloody ticket up!!!Met always ask for the existing certificate to be sent back, I assumed this was normal.
It makes sense to me to be honest, this way a person is only ever in possession of one certificate. Of course the drawback is no ammunition can be bought whilst the certificate is away.
That makes no sense.are you in kent? if you think about it, it’s logical to return your certificate first, as if you were a silly billy and already had an open slot to acquire a firearm, you could on receipt of the second certificate and on the same day visit two RFDs and use both certificates to acquire two firearms, when you are only legally allowed to acquire just the one.
Obviously they would be after you for doing so, but the risk is there.
So on your currently possessed certificate you can acquire a .223 but decide to change that to a .22-250 but you are keeping possession of your current certificate apply for the 1-4-1 and then the new certificate arrives so now if you wanted to be silly you could use one certificate to buy the .223 and the other to buy the .22-250That makes no sense.
If you need a slot opening up then them having your actual license makes no difference. They don’t tippex the old one out and write in the new one. They throw your license in the bin (cos it’s only a paper version of the electronic record that they hold on the firearms database) and they make the change and send you a new paper copy.
If you send them a copy of a copy then it makes no odds to the police (or shouldn’t) as neither are the original document or record.
They also do make mistakes on the licenses. I have had incorrect serial numbers printed for weapons and I know others who have had entire weapons missed off or double slots granted.
This all comes down to poor admin in their side and having a paper copy of your license won’t improve that.
Ah, but they you would have broken the law and would be liable to a stretch in prison. So on your currently possessed certificate you can acquire a .223 but decide to change that to a .22-250 but you are keeping possession of your current certificate apply for the 1-4-1 and then the new certificate arrives so now if you wanted to be silly you could use one certificate to buy the .223 and the other to buy the .22-250
You should only be in possession of one valid FAC at any one time.
Your analogy is messed up and wrong.Your driving license at home is still in your possession, just like your locked up firearms at home are still in your possession, your firearms locked up at your RFD are not in your possession and neither is your FAC if you can't lay your hands on it at short notice.
