Most accurate 6.5 x55

It used to group 5 shots under 1/3 inch at 100 m but this has opened up to 1 inch and takes 5 shots before it tightens up
I’d say you still got a very accurate rifle. How far are you shooting to where 1moa isn’t good enough? What are you using the rifle for?

With any of my factory rifles I can't wait for the day that the barrel gives me a reason to get it replaced by a custom.
Get her re-barrelled with the profile/length of choice.

yes thats a lot of rounds down the tube BUT before you get rid of the rifle get the crown recut and try it again ,might be the best £60/£100 you have spent . good luck.
Unless he’s been storing the mod on or there’s obvious damage to the crown it’ll probably be £60 down the drain.

5000 rounds of top end high energy powder down a 6.5 has more than likely knackered the barrel.

Just get a new one stuck on there and get an ackley chamber for good measure!

Eh, money no objection? if you can snag a sako TRG 41 in 6.5x55 i would make an argument that you could expect it to be the absolute best non custom rifle money can buy. More easy to aquire perhaps would be a Sako 90 in 6.5x55, the Sako 85 varmint came in 6.5x55 i believe (i had 223) and was a joy, the stock being a big contributor to its accuracy.

Tikka is a budget Sako from the same factory ever since Sako merged/took over Tikka. The returns are diminishing tho, a Sako 85/90 or TRG Will out of the box have a small advantage on the t3x but that is mostly due to a nicer stock and better bedding. With a little elbow grease a t3x becomes a Sako. I really cant comment mutch for any other brands exept the german and finnish guns and sabattis. Unless you go custom i simply havent found any of the mauser/sauer etc beat out a Riihimäki rifle. Doesnt mean they arent out there ofcourse. The TRG line of rifles is on yet another level! thats almost a custom competition rifle straight out of the box If you want to throw down 4000-6000 euro.

Have a good look at the crown.
Is it throwing unexpected flyers if you shot 10 rounds?
Is it a stainless barrel or chromoly? They both give different "endings" to their round count.
How many rounds does it take to "come back on line" after a deep scrub?

I have a Tikka heavy barreled varmint 6.5 x55. It's 18 years old and after about 5000 rounds its accuracy is diminishing. I don't really care about the cost or weight but want something really accurate. Any suggestions please?
Get a rebarrel 💯🎯
