I keep looking at the photos. I cant see how it could be a hare all features are rabbit, length of face, colour, shape and length of ears.
Not worth falling out over or bragging who has killed the most.

First photo rabbits from heavy ground. Next original photo Next two are hares. When you see them close up regardless of colour the pelt fur is totaly diffetent. Rabbits have a smooth coat like a weasel or stoat. Hairs have a linty coat like a saluki. In all honesty trying to describe the difference is not easy but experience through looking at pictures and animals helps . I used to kill in the region of 700 rabbits a week and perhaps 50 hares so i have seen a few. I have caught European brown hares in three coat colours, brown black and white. All hares and rabbits have varied colour depending on topography but they like all animals have colour morphs as well .

Agree with a lot of what you say there regarding the coats, the images i posted weren’t meant to highlight the general difference between the two, i think everyone of us can tell the difference out in the field, they were to highlight the difference between the eyes. The hare having the large pupil and the characteristic amber iris whereas rabbits tend to be less pronounced.
The OP images clearly show a hare like amber iris and large pupil which is why i’ve stated it potentially could be a hare based on my experience of shooting and forwarding images to staff of dead hares on a regular basis.
At the end of the day we are looking at a pic of a small section of a whole animal, nothing to reference size etc so it isn’t life or death. I say tomata you say tomato.

Up to now, none has addressed the eye, now I’ve trawled trough all of my photos of rabbits I’ve sent to land owners and I haven’t found one that has an eye like the one in the OP’s images, large pupil and amber iris.
Do me a favour, study the eyes in the OP‘s images and then look at the images in the link and tell me what you think.

Eyes arent all the same either ...I have shot rabbits with blue eyes on various occasions but they are still rabbits.

Just accept it's a Rabbit.

Exactly, my rabbit and the other one‘s iris looks nothing like as pronounced as the OP’s
After foxhunters poor attempt at educating me I’m still going young hare, the eye, coat and black tips are doing it for me, where do I hand my guns in?

Cut the guy some slack. He's made some valid observations without stooping to ridicule.

Anyway, I frankly don't care whether the photos are of a rabbit, a hare or even a guinea pig. What I do care about is that while @Pellet Pinger has stated quite rationally why he believes it may possibly be a hare, no-one else seems capable of responding in an equally rational and mature fashion to explain why it is, beyond all doubt, a rabbit.
