Anyone with first hand knowledge able to Suggest a PH or trusted Namibia hunting outfitter please?
Really only interested in plains game, kudu, oryx, impala etc

Try Tusker on here and sika98k both have been out there a few times. Sure they will help, Sika98k was very helpful with me.

Have with Guido at Namseb - www.namseb.com. He is a friend of friend and we stayed there firca few days a couple of years ago. I was with family rather than a hunting trip but he took me out looking fir camp meat - a couple of days in the bush with a rifke in hand. Saw lots of good trophy quality Kudu, Oryx, Springbok and Zebra. But nothing of a couple of mates looking fir camp meat type hunting. Pricing for trophies very reasonable though,

Kowas Hunting Safari's; I went on a management hunt with them in 2018. Fair chase walk and stalk hunting, plenty of game and good food and accommodation. Plus they're only about an hour from Windhoek.

ARU game lodges ,they have 2 excellent farms Kalakwa and Veronica plus concessions over 144k hectare and you get to go to both one has some great mountains the other vast open kalahari about an hour apart and 1 hour from airport .Danene the owner is president of NAPHA and a great PH , lodge is first class and so is the walk and stalk hunting , all hunting is fair chase ,a couple of members on here will also reference
( Tazz is one ) contact
danene@arugamelodges.com or pm me if you want more info happy to assist with any questions on Namibia

@deeangeo , it depends on what you want to do. Trophy hunt, management hunt or a bit of both. My last trip last year was only 45 minutes from the airport. We’d been out two months before up near Grootfontein, 6 hours drive after 18 hours traveling so 45 minutes was fine. The place was very nice, I can’t fault it.
Nice rooms, great food and the hunting was very good. It was very apparent the animals weren’t over hunted. Last year farmers were very keen, owing to the drought, to reduce wildlife levels. There’s been a reasonable amount of rain lately so wildlife levels should bounce back quickly. Still, having said that there was no lack of them.
Getting firearms in and out of Namibia is a doddle, ten minutes, no baksheesh and you’re on your way. Silencers, moderators, whatever are permitted.
I fly with Ethiopian airlines. No charge for firearms within your baggage limit. That they are still flying 35 flights a week in and out of China is making me think twice about this year. Sadly I’m beginning to edge towards the vulnerable age group. Jeez ! Never thought I’d be there !
I have been to farms where hunting is a side business of the farm rather than the mainstay. Ok, there’s fences and fields but the “fields” can be 8-900 hectares in size ! It was a great sensation to stand on a kopje one morning and look at the 12,000 hectares, give or take a few hundred as the owner had never got to the edge of one boundary in the hills. The fences are only 2 strands of bull wire to keep the cattle in. The browsers, kudu etc go over the fence and the grazers, oryx, go under. The fence is no hindrance to game moving freely.
The Namibian tourism website has a portal to hunting ranches and farms. There’s lots of them. but ask your questions, do your research and ask for references before parting with your cash. Above all, enjoy it.

Thanks and appreciation for your input on my question folks.
I plan on going with a good hunting friend of many years .... if I can afford it...pretty sure I can!
I’m not interested in trophies, so management cull for me, my friend has a different plan and will take trophies.

We’ve both hunted in Scotland for many years and my friend has hunted in SA once.
I have only ever done beach & safari with my wife in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and SA.
We did my safari’s on our own, rented a 4x4 and drove to wherever we felt like going...no guides, nothing.
Now I’m much older & less fit, so it’s a bucket list job!

Neither of us plans to take our own rifles, but that may change. ... depends if 6.5’s are permissible.
I guess I’d suck up the chance to use my MSch M1903 6.5x54 with its new Krieger barrel & some 160gn RN bullets.
However, that may well be a romantic idea!
Many thanks & Cheers

Now why would you want to forgo that opportunity ? 7mm is the suggested minimum in Namibia but certainly with heavy for caliber bullets and good shot placement most plains game are achievable. I wouldn’t recommend it for an eland.

Nice stutzen ... been looking at the website...waiting for reply from my accompanying friend.
I'm sure it won't be long coming!

Hi deeangeo, I can recommend Okaturua . We hunted with them in 2018, great team and we wanted for nothing. They are only an hour from Windhoek.
Also, if you want a cull hunt I have a farmer friend who can look after you at very cheap rates and the accommodation is outstanding in proper wilderness. you would be hard pressed to spend more than a few hundred quid on Oryx, Springbok , Kudu and Red Hartebeest . If you like long distance Springbok @£40 a pop this is great. i will PM you my phone number and have a chat if you like. i also hunted for a couple of days with Ekuja, they were also very good but they are high fenced. As Sika said most of Namibia is not fenced and you never really know what you may find.

6.5 x 54 (.256 Gibbs) killed quite a few Elephant, Lions and other game for Wm Bell. Also plenty of Reds and Fallow for me.

Is Namibia still suffering from the drought which has affected so much of southern Africa ? I know things have eased somewhat down in the Karroo but it is quite hard to find these things out without personal contacts.

Some areas are definitely still suffering, but it’s not blanket coverage. Sorry to be vague I can’t remember the specifics currently

Evening gents, just been chatting with a ph ( a sheep farmer in Namibia) , khomas area (1 hour from Windhoek) he was telling me they have had good rain early on this year and some good follow up rains so the grass is growing, last Sunday 107mm rain and more this week. I saw some photos he sent of some recent hunts and animals he has taken all looks green and the condition of game is good so fingers crossed the 5 year drought has broken ...
